citymain scum
citymain is the company that provides the free trials you get when u take out a osps contract.
the first scummy thing they do is that the trial for tmti, is a 3 month trial yet they take the first payment after 12 weeks not 3 months.
the main scummy thing is that they do not register the direct debit with the bank untill the day they take paymnet, this mean it is not possible to cancel the direct debit with the bank.
it is also not possible to cancel the cover over the phone , so the only way is to write to them and then you have no gaurentee that the got it or pay attention to it.
i got done today as they took the payment, even though i sent a letter on fri ( true mayb that waas a bit late)
surely what they are doing with the bank is unethical and part of the direct debit garentee should be the ease to cancel it.
i now want to write a stinking letter to comlain, i would like to know which bodies i can report them to fot this behaviour, i also want to threaten them with reporting them .
finally anyone who has a osps phone make sure you cancel in good time

cancelled mine straight away. would advise anyone buying new phone from OSPS to not take out the insurance if they dont want it after 3 months.0

They registered my DD with the bank about one month after I bought the phone.. i cancelled it immediately and wrote to them one week before the three months was up to cancel the insurance and technical help. They handled everything correctly. Perhaps you have just been unlucky0

My DD appeared on my current account a few days after purchase. I can cancel it!0 -
Before taking any money, they have to first set up a Direct Debit on your account.
Can't you get a list of the current DDs which are set up on your account from your Bank, and then instruct them to cancel those to do with this company?0 -
exactly what i did but there was no record of them untill today which was too late.
this is basically my problem0 -
Any company setting up a DD is supposed to give you an "originators identification number" with this your bank can put a stop on the DD as soon as they ask for the payment, without it your bank knows nothing about it until they are asked for the money,Don`t steal - the Government doesn`t like the competition0

thanks for that.
i did ask my bank if i could put a block on it before uit comes in and they said no.
anyway i called up today to cancel the insurance.
i finally got to speak to someone by pretending i wanted to make an insurance claim. i then cancelled it.
if you follow the option to cancel the dd you just get a message telling you to write in to cancel, but if you go to the 'make a claim option' you can speak to someone who will cancel.
just a shame i didnt think of this last week.0 -
Cancelled both of mine in writing as soon as I got them. It does say on the information provided that you must cancel in writing. Then if they still take the DD you can claim it back under the Direct Debit Guarantee. You should have cancelled when you had the chance. He huihuinga taangata he pukenga whakaaro – A meeting of people; a wellspring of ideas (Maori proverb)0

In relation to the original post - maybe it's only me that thinks that 12 weeks and 3 months are one and the same thing. Near enough anyway.0
