Marks & Spencer false advertising

I bought some books late on 29th November when they were advertised on the images as '50% off price shown', as below. They were also 3 for 2. I got the 3 for 2 and assumed if I placed my order and then contacted M&S about the discrepancy they would amend my order for the 50% off advertised. All they will say is that the 50% off was advertised too early as the offer only started on 30th November and refuse to honour the offer advertised. I am shocked as I would not have placed the order if I had any doubt in my mind that they would honour the offer advertised. Now I have the hassle of returning a heavy box of books and I have lost out on a £10 off £50 voucher I had used on the order as well.
See below screenshot as evidence of their false advertising, which they admit but don't seem to care about.

Read the small print
AKA, "don't trust M&S"*.
(Or anyone else, for that matter.)
* For they will offer you something in big, bold, colourful, text and renege on that offer in small b&w text**.
** And you'd be surprised how many people think that is honourable, acceptable, behaviour. There are two types of people in the world: Those that can extrapolate information.0 -
