    eugh? <scratches head>
So you're going to win an arguament by pointing out someone said something completely dissimilar to what you said lots of other people said?

    Sorry...completely different.
    Sure about that Fubs.

So the comparison between large period properties and first time buyer type flats isn't really reflected in Dans statement.

Honestly? You're going to run with that?

Gosh. 4 years after the inevitable crash hits, I knew you guys were desperate for a win. Just not that desperate.

Anyway, happy 6th bear birthday!!! thats about a quarter of a mortgage term gone now. Were you planning on retiring one day?

Whats a quarter of half a house heathcote. :)

If geneer applies the same logic to pension planning as he has to home ownership, expect him to be sitting at age 63 still waiting for the 'mother of all stockmarket crashes' before he invests his pension savings.

Incidently, "winning an argument by dissimilar comparison" is second only to "winning an argument by lying" in geneers debating techniques.

Sure is some nice Ignoring you've got going on RenoMan.

Well he said !!!!!! areas, to me that usually means dodgy council estates, rough areas, northern towns etc not new-build.

In fact I can't remember when someone used to the '!!!!!!' to specifically refer to newly built houses. Maybe I missed that page of the thesaurus.

Incidentally, didn't you keep telling us FTB stuff in Edinburgh has dropped, but that the averages are skewed by the family home type stuff keeping it's value?

in fact I'm sure I remember you arguing that for months when ESPC started to climb again.

So which is it to be? are you arguing with yourself?

Silly bull. In edinburgh, the "family home" bracket includes quite a fair old number of £500000+ town houses etc. Hardly your suburban 3 bedder with garage.

Before you burst a blood vessel I did say it was a not too distant cousin.

But its quite clear that the "desirable area" vs "sh*tty area" argument is very similar to the "large property" vs "ftb shoe box" argument.

Both these comments, and many similar have littered discussions since the crash. Clearly incorporated onto the industry of bull fall-back positions.

Its jaw dropping that you would deny it.
    But totally predictable.

Rather than ask BearSibley to provide evidence, lets just embrace this new power we have, where we can make stuff up as we please and not bother with silly things like facts or evidence.

:rotfl:Or you could go with this not so new thing where you rely on meaningless pedantry to see you through.

I mean, it would be one thing if you were all asking me to prove that Sam called bob a silly boy last week.

But when you're howling for evidence about something we all know to be true, its time for questions to be asked.

Until this article the received wisdom was that Period properties better hold their value. The same guy that insists that I have to trawl through years of previous posts to prove this claim, simultaneously insists that NO BULL EVER MADE THIS CLAIM. Comedy cold.

4 years since the crash, and this is the best you can do.

erm, so Edinburgh is unique in that some houses are expensive, and some are not?

Not at all like London or pretty much any other city you care to mention?

Or is it just the bits of Edinburgh in !!!!!! areas that have dropped? or new builds?

I'm not sure what I'm supposed to have denied.

So, lets get this very straight.

    Would you agree that:

You have never, ever claimed, specificially in Edinburgh, that period homes have held their value, which has skewed the averages, and therefore resulted in an understated decline in the cost of the typical FTB/!!!!!!/new built property?

I'm not sure what I'm supposed to have denied.

Lets be clear Fubra. Are you breaking ranks from your playpals.
Do you accept my self evident premise then?

Makes you think doesn't it Fubs. Gosh, could it be that when you dig deeper, the overall averages might not matter all that much to different property types.

    Who would have thunk it.
