Tiscali Broadband speed!

as you are prob aware from my previous post i'm on broadband with tiscali at last. I signed up for the 1mb speed but for some reason it says its running @ 2.3mb!!! great if this is true any1 else getting more speed?

I signed up with them about a month ago for the £15.99 1MB service. I promptly changed my mind the next day but it was too late as the ADSL order had already gone through to BT. It took Tiscali nearly a month (!) to reverse the order and my line is finally going to get released this weekend. However, during this month my connection was live for a few days and I too noticed that the connection speed (according to the dial up icon) was 2.3MBs - it was too good to be true! If you go to adslguide.org you can do a speed test on your connection at which point you'll probably find like me that you have the same speed as a 1MB connection. I suspect that whilst your line is cabale of 2MB, you're being throttled back to 1MB.

I had a 150k connection with them a yr ago. And the connection said 2.2 Mbps. But the speed I got was about the same as 150kbps only(about 3 times faster than dial-up speed to download files). So dont get too excited about the modem connection speed you are getting. It will be 1Mb only.

I'm on the tiscali 1mb, shows up on my connection as 2.3 or thereabouts. There's a link on another thread (another tiscali one perhaps) somewhere for a site which will show you what your connection speed is.

that's more or less it.. also means if you want 2mb your connection would handle it..

i've got the 1mb too but only connecting at 598 so had to downgrade to 512k
