Is this how much it cost to boil potatoes using gas?

You're way out on your readings as others have said.
Some time ago, I compared the cost of boiling 1.25 litres of cold tap water in a 2 KW electric kettle with boiling it in a kettle on the gas hob.
The electric kettle used 0.123kWh and the gas 0.381kWh.
The cost at the time was 1.04p electric and 0.97p gas.
It took twice as long to boil the water by gas, so I concluded that was worth the extra fraction of a penny to use electricity, or rather my DD did!

However don't forget that the additional energy used gas(0.258kWh) warms up the house.0 -
I'm only reading the black numbers on the meter and it was 10689 now it's 10692. Actually about 5 min after switching off the gas it was 10691 with 9 in the red numbers. But today it's moved to 10692 with 6 in the red numbers.
I'm not using any other gas appliance. I do have gas central heating which is not on but there is a pilot light on constantly I was told which may cost about £12 a year.
If my gas really is this high and I cook a meal with potatoes, some veg and something either on the stove or in the oven that's a lot of gas and money just for one meal.
There are various type of metres, imperial and metric, it is a bit unclear what type you have, also your description could be ambiguous could you be clearer about it and what it says on the metre?
I am pretty sure the reading you are giving us is wrong as I spend about £1 a day on gas and do a lot more than boiling some spuds even if you exclude the my gas central heating.
I suspect you are either a factor of 10 or 100 out.
I have it on good authority it costs 0.9p to boil a kettle (1.5 pints)
probably a bit more now as I don't know how old the data is.
So I would say you are a factor of 100 out.0 -
:rotfl:There is only a metric metre, but there are indeed various types of meter

I would ask to have my meter tested, that reading is wrong. If indeed you did use this amount your veg is burnt also your saucepan.0
