Can I fix a scratch inside the toilet?

I am so stupid
I soaked the toilet bowl with vinegar yesterday, gave the crusty limescale a good scrub with the toilet brush but there was still a bit left - right down the bottom under the waterline. As I thought it would be quite soft after all that vinegar I tried to scratch it off with a skewer - result is I've got a couple of nasty scratches on the white surface which look really ugly
Does anyone know if there is anything I can do to fix these? I could only think of painting over them with something but would that work seeing as how it's underwater all the time?
Thanks to anyone who can advise!

PS Having searched the net, there are a few recommendations for Bar Keepers Friend - does anyone know an OS equivalent of this? That man is richest whose pleasures are cheapest. Henry David Thoreau0

Barkeepers' friend won't take a scratch out of a porcelain loo.0

There are firms that do porcelain repairs, when we moved into our new house the sink was scartched and the builders got it repaired, they seemed to polish it out and it looks good as new, I will try to find a name for youAlways on the hunt for a bargain0

The folks on the In My House (and DIY) board may be able to help with this one, so I'll move you across.

Have you actually scratched the porcelain or just marked it (its pretty tough) it may be that its just a blueish grey mark that can be polished out with "T" cut or if you can get hold of one, a porcelain rubber. our local Builders merchant has one that gets rid of all sorts of marks on toilets etc.

Thanks everyone, having searched on the internet, I think as navig8r says, it is a mark rather than a scratch. It looked like a scratch but apparently 'metal marks' are quite common on porcelain after people have used metal snakes etc to unblock them. The recommendation seems to be to use a gentle abrasive to rub it out. I will check out the recommendation for the porcelain rubber - guy next door is a plumber so hopefully he might know a man who can!
Strangely, it looks much better a couple of days later, so tbh if I can't DIY it I think I will leave it rather than splash out on a specialist, it will probably be one of those things that noone will notice apart from me........That man is richest whose pleasures are cheapest. Don't use T cut, not on your car, or in your home, it's fully of coarse abrasives that do not break down well, it's more likely to leave scratches than take anything away.0 -

Come on!! were talking a spot on a rag here not pouring a bottle full down the bog. Have you tried this method because I have ..and it works.

If it's below the waterline, then just use those 'bloo' things that turn the water erm... blue
Then no-one will see it.
Or try a non scratch scourer to remove the mark - I had a similar prob with the chrome plug scratching my bath and the NON SCRATCH (just to make sure you got that bit!) scourer worked a treat.
Hope this helps!0
