Laptop Problems

Hi

I have been having issues with my laptop for the past couple of weeks where if I have multiple webpages open it is taking ages for a page to load and sometimes fails to load the page. I originally thought it was an issue with firefox and updated it but I have noticed it happening with IE too. It as though it is not connecting to the wireless everytime (if that makes sense).

I have done 2 scans with AVG and Malwarebytes and nothing has been picked up.

I am using a Toshiba Satellite T130.

Could somebody possibly try to help me with trying to diagnose what it could be and whether it is fixable. It is driving me mad and taking so much time when browsing etc.

Many thanks

xx

This sounds like it could be a case of trying various things until you stumble upon the fix.

Nice one on doing a mbam / avg scan already.

What operating system do you have?

I would run a defrag and see if that helps with anything, you could also try increaseing the virtual memory in the system, once i know your operating system i can help you on this.

Also have you tried google chrome? its googles web browser, its pretty quick!

  • Hi thanks for your reply

I forgot to mention I did a defrag at weekend and cleared all cookies and history.

    It is running Windows 7.

  • Another point to mention is that recently it has started to come up with an error on start up that a usb has malfuntioned then shows a diagram of unknown port and bluetooth port - hope that makes sense. Could this be related?

    Thanks again

  • It could be your DNS , some ISP's are notoriously slow, i use Googles DNS 8.8.8.8 and 8.8.4.4 but opendns is fine too.

I would deffinately try what debitcardmayhem has suggested, opendns is just as good and the ip addresses are - 208.67.222.222 and 208.67.220.220

Can you run a speed test on here please and link us to the results? http://www.speedtest.bbmax.co.uk/

    Full model number?

Is it the Pentium ULV SU2700 or the Pentium ULV SU4100 version?

Have you run the BIOS update to solve the overheating problem?
  • Hi

The speed test results are 7594 kbps download and 216 kbps upload.

The model number is ULV SU2700.

I don't think it has had an update to solve overheating, I have had no overheating issues with this like I did on my old HP laptop.

Just to say it took a while to do the speed test as just said it was having problems with the upload test.

    Many Thanks

Could you try running a ping test on here please? http://pingtest.net/

Who is your ISP? Would you say the problem is worse at any particular time of the day? evenings / weekends etc?

    Are you running on Wireless?

That's not the model number. It should begin: PST***

    T130 recall
  • Model No PST3AE - 00W00MEN

Just doing ping test now, I am with Virgin and it is always slower in th evening but this is a drastic change in pages loading and not loading because they are taking that long.
