Handset Help Please
Would someone please be good enough to give me some advice on handsets that I am considering via an 18 month deal through 3?
From research done on the net it would appear that SE seem to be the most reliable phones available for a 3g service and 3 have a couple of good deals going using their Direct Talker 1000 tarriff. The K610i(r) is available for half price over the full 18 month contract and the k800i(r) is available for 12 month half price. After using Quidco the 610 works out at £11.94/month and the 800i £17.78. There is also an LG890 (new) available for 18 month half price. My daughter has this phone, it performs very well and is new, rather than refurbished, which may be a worthy consideration. One big drawback that I have noticed on the k800i is the small keypad that could be a big pain, for a mid 50's male with short fat fingers, to use.
I have only used Nokia business type 2g phones in the past. Any guidance that you can give me would be extremely useful.
Thanks very much,
Paul.

i have never used a LG phone, but i do have 2 sony ericsson phones and they are really easy to use and are very reliable.
Good camera = K800i (3.2 MP autofocus compared to the k610i's 2MP non autofocus camera)
the k610 does not have an fm radio like the k800i0 -
Thanks gaming_guy for your advice. Has anyone else got any ideas on this? All help gratefully received thanks.0

hey,
i had a LG u8120. admittedly it was an 'original' 3G phone, but it was pants. i couldn't get signal anywhere and it broke more than i expected. i have also heard that the LG chocolate is appallingly built to the point that LG withdrew it from the market.
I personally would steer clear of LG, but its your choice.

and i also forgot to say that the k800i has a real xenon flash whereas the k610i doesnt have a flash at all0

I like LG, had 8120, then 8330, now U880. the 880 is great, plenty on it and easy to use. suspect 890 is similar but updated......Gettin' There, Wherever There is......
I have a dodgy "i" key, so ignore spelling errors due to "i" issues, ...I blame Apple0 -
Hi GunJack,
The 890 is just about the same phone, so my kids tell me, but with a flat (flush) keypad, similar to the Motorola Razr I believe. My daughter said that it initially took some getting used to, but she has no problems now & it works very well indeed for her. I am tempted to get it for myself, rather than the SE k800i(r) or k600i(r) because it is new rather than a refurb, has a large screen with easy to see display, a large keypad and, I assume, that the flip design will help to protect the screen/keypad area & keep it clean.
BTW gaming_guy, do you have any problems with the small size of the 800i keypad. This is one criticism that I have read about the phone that worries me. When I have examined it in the local phone shops it does appear to be very small & awkward, which is why I was considering the 610i, as I think this may be easier to use. The LG, on the other hand, has quite a large keypad.
Thanks to both of you for your past help.

i dont know as i dont own a k800i, but i do have a k750i and a k700i.
i never had any problems with this phones keypad (k800i)when i tried it out when it was on display in my local 3 shop. i found it very easy to use0 -
Paulee - if that's the case with the keypad, think I'll stick with 880. Mrs GunJack has Moto V3i (same type of keypad but bigger) and I hate it !! But then, I do have fingers like pig's teats.............Gettin' There, Wherever There is......
