As mentioned above, it might help detailing the problem on OnePoll's Facebook page.

Whatever the reason for the non-payment (and it is wrong to not pay up, or explain he problem), there is NO excuse for accusing someone of child abuse!
It may have been said in the heat of the moment, but in my opinion it was completely out of order.
She has allowed her child to complete the surveys for money, but I bet she doesn't consider this child labour / child abuse or any other term.
The agent she spoke to was an employee of the company, who by the sounds of it managed to resolve her problem fast and efficiently. No matter how angry she was, the name calling and abuse was inexcusable.
Clearly Mo, you have never been on the receiving end of this kind of thing. Count yourself lucky!
OP, I'm glad you got your DD's payment in the end.
I dont think that saz1970 personally accused anybody on the end of the phone of child abuse because that would be just plain silly. What do you consider child abuse to mean? Do you and others only consider it in the most horrible of circumstances? Can it not mean that you abused that childs good nature and willingness to give their opinions. This is what I in this context would consider this person to have meant. But I consider myself to be a fair person.
I think you and a few others are blowing this way out of context.0 -
It doesn't matter if she accused the person directly, or the company I still think its wrong.
Thousands of people have been using Onepoll and its associated sites for years with no problems. Obviously, there was some kind of problem here which needed to be sorted, and yes they were in the wrong to not reply to e-mails etc but no, I don't find using terms like child abuse or throwing accusations around acceptable behaviour at all, particularly for an adult.
I've worked in Customer Service, and I've had people go off at me like that due to problems they are having. While I understand their frustration, I was there to FIX the problem. I didn't cause it so no, I didn't take their abuse either!0 -
I take it that you work for One Poll seeing as you are so knowledgable of the fact there have not been any problems before for thousands of people. Therefore maybe you can sort out the problem that I am having!
I take it that you have never been frustrated either when you explore every avenue and hit a dead end. Or maybe you are just not a reasonable and fair adult as to say "ok, maybe you used the wrong terms here but I understand why you said that and I understand what you meant".

I think people seriously need to calm down. Getting your children to do surveys for months on end for £20 is a bit harsh and then moaning you had to pay it out of your own pocket. If you couldn't afford to give them any pocket money would it not have been better to explain this?
Child abuse is too strong a term for what happened full stop.
Gill was just trying to explain that in simple terms from what I can see.0 -

Well if you can clearly see Gills point, can you not also see mine?
When the child starts to do the surveys there is no indication of the length of time it may take to reach payout. If there was, I'm sure many parents would not allow their children to even start them.
Children take months to complete surveys which Youngpoll receive money for the results of. The reason they take months is because when the child gets close to the £20 mark, Youngpoll then stop giving them surveys. When the child finally does complete them, they then go off-line for months so that they cannot claim the money. Do you consider this fair? Would you be happy if your child had given up their time only to be treated in this way? And what would you call it?
It would be bad enough if an adult was treated in this way, but to do it to a child is not right.
And finally, I do give my child pocket money. He was doing the surveys to help save towards a bike. And I am not moaning about giving him the £20 myself. I just think it is so unfair to treat children like this.0 -
Can't believe how OTT some people can get over £20 - These survey sites are NOT a guaranteed source of income, and shouldn't be treated as such. To be calling it 'slave labour' or 'child abuse' is absolutely ridiculous.
These are random sites on the internet, it's not a real job, they can disappear at any moment in time and refuse to pay out, and you and your child should've been more prepared for that potential outcome.0 -
Oh MSE forums...
Yes the term 'child abuse' didn't need to be used by the OP and yes you have all passed judgement on this, but we are all human and we all say stupid things sometimes. Think the worst thing she did was the put it on these forums :wall:There are few people whom I really love, and still fewer of whom I think well...0 -
I agree with the above post. No wonder I spend most of my time on the OS forum. Friendly bunch over there!Father Ted: Now concentrate this time, Dougal. These
(he points to some plastic cows on the table) are very small; those (pointing at some cows out of the window) are far away...:D:D
