I have had my 3 phone for over 12 months now so am entitled to an upgrade. On 3’s web site it says I can upgrade by calling their sales line and I am entitled to any special offers that they have on at the time of upgrading.
I notice that in the shops, many retailers have ’12 months half price line rental’ on at the moment. Thus if I asked 3 when I phone up for the upgrade, will they honour this?

I doubt it, it's the same with most service providers, the good deals are for new customers and the existing customers get stiffed0

I'm in the same position. When I spoke to 3 they said they can't match the offers in the shops. They only offer 3 months 1/2 price and a new handset as an upgrade.
My intention is to go thru to disconnections (tomorrow) and see if they offer a deal to keep me. Will let you know!0 -
I recently went through all this, the retention staff were crap.
Pointed out that if Three can afford high commissions which allow resellers to give cashback then surely they can make better offers to direct customers.
But she kept blabbering on a bout 'we give u 3 months half price...'
It was like that scene in the Simpsons where CHief Wiggum is trying to get a bribe out of Homer when Homer is running the carnival stall - she just didn't get it.
I cancelled and got 12 months half price with onestopphoneshop
They were offering 9 months but I phoned up and acted like I wasn't entirely convinced and got the 'well actually today only were doing 12 months.....'
Its the only option really unless your prepared to pay about £150 a year extra to retain your number by taking the upgrade. If you have time you can port it to a PAYG then port it back to your new three contract.0 -
Yep! precisely what happened today! They are not prepared to do anything more than the 3 months 1/2 price rental.
I also pointed out that a free handset is no bargain - everyone gives them and pointed out the fact that others give 12 months 1/2 price etc.
No go!
My only hesitation now is whether or not I would actually remember to claim the cashback......0 -

is it a cash back scheme? I couldnt make it out fromthe website?
Thanks0 -
Yes, is a casback schame. I have just reclaimed another £105 from last years contract with Onestopphoneshop. So no problems with them so far.
Mos of onestopphoneshops deals utilise this cashback after 6 and 12 months to bring prices down.0
