I'll never buy another HP product

Why? Well you can only ask for help or support if it is in warranty!!!!
So what can I do to solve my problem? It is not listed on their Q&As
When I want to scan it takes hours as scanner is continuously warming up.

  • Aren't they all like that now ?

Have you tried completely uninstalling from computer all software related to scanner, disconnect scanner, restart computer & install scanner from scratch again ?

Sounds more like it is down to your computer, not the scanner.

Thanks, yes I have uninstalled and reinstalled, found an update on the HP site but it is for windows and I have a Mac. So annoyed as I now have two of these C4585 wireless printers that don't work properly!

In my experience as a IT Geek, most computer manufactures these days only offer support if your within the warranty. Its why companies like PC Worlds "Know How" have so much business.

Knightstyle, do you have access to a Windows computer / laptop that you could install the scanner on as a test with Windows Drivers to see if it works ok or not? that would rule out a problem with the scanner itself.
My Support is provided "as is" without warranty of any kind. While a knowledgeable and skilled professional, I cannot offer any guarantee as to the consequences of the Support provided. Should the Support cause damage or loss of any kind, I shall not be held liable.

Mac drivers are here, covers Tiger through to Lion. Can't be more specific without knowing which version of OSX you are running:

All well and good, but this thread is about an HP printer/scanner, not a computer. ;)

My Dad's 970 CXI printer from 2001 still works fine, the drivers for it even come pre-loaded on Windows 7.

Any company will drop support after the warranty period, HP are no different to Dell, Acer, Asus etc. - my only problem with HP is that even within warranty their support is next to useless.
