    hiya!! congrats!!

I have the phill and teds and it has deffinetly brrn a must, not just pram envy ;)

I needed a double buggy that was narrow as I get the bus daily and dont drive, my dh drives so i also needed a buggy that wasn't too bulky for boot and could hold in there with shopping etc.

I had the cossato duet lite and it was a nightmare for me!! it was way too heavy, too low, hard to steer/go up curbs/ small flight of stairs and wasn't too great on the bus. It gave me backche too.

I borrowed a marko sky which i did like and it was nice and high, it pushed well but a little bulky. I did like the way it folded down kind of umbrella style. The back seat is slightly elevated which meant the back rider can see out the front.

the P&T is a synch to steer, I can steer it one handed and it's lighter than most doubles i've tried.
many people couldnt understand why i need to steer one handed but when i had/have to hold baby amd push buggy at same time it's very necesary :)

I cried when i took the cosatto out one day as my back ached and as i was nursing baby i had a crying baby and couldnt go fast enough, it steered horribly, we went to shop to try diff buggies and when the lady saw our buggy (cossato) she told me that many peeps had taken them back to the shop and that they had stopped selling them, they let us try the P&T out and I nearly cried again, this time with happines lololol!! was at an emotional time!!

The P&T is no way a "perfect" buggy but was best for my usage.
The shopping basket, as stated above, is taken up with back kiddie's feet and I have had to get it resewn as the side ripped.
The buggy is a 3 wheeler which means the back is sometimes too wide for the busses that have a middle bar.
The handles aren't that good for bags as someone rightly pointed out the back rider does get knocked if the bag handle isn't at correct length.
Oh and the rain cover isn't that good for the back rider either, it doesnt go far back enough nor close at the back enough for our liking.

The younger child is "meant" to go in the back but I put baby in front because the extra seat doesn't lie back enought, nor did i think it was cozy enough for a little one.

I did like the way the seat fitted ontop of the main seat for toddler and baby!!

well I've chatted on quite a bit there :D

I think best bet is to tally up exactly what you need from a buggy and go and try some out.
    look after the pennies.....
  • Im going to take this opportunity to scream about my bertini!!! Its FAb. Its a pushchair with pneumatic tyres and a toddler seat that sits above and to the front of the main seat. I had 11 months between my youngest 2 and its was / is perfect. Also has a neatly built in buggyboard for my eldes which slides under the frame when not in use.

Theres one on ebay at the moment - 280076526919. You can then buy a seat elsewhere

Its a fairly rare pushchair - i've never seen another and i have handed out so many details for strangers in the street!
I have seen parts pop up on ebay now and again.

New pushchair and board - http://www.tjcnursery.co.uk/index.asp?function=SEARCH

Just searched for ages and cant find them for sale anywhere else. Abroad they are easy to buy. They are australian. But so rare here you have to search for a day to find one! Searching ebay now and a gain would be best option!
Very simmilar is the zooper. Have not seen in flesh though!
  • Also have a m&p aria twin. Finding it hard when theres a heavier child one side. It is second hand though. Also have a cheapy one from argos. Surprisingly good - bought it for when we need something that takes up no room in the boot!

Have spoken to a few with a phil and teds and have heared bad reviews. MAnily about kicking the baby seat underneath while walking and making it hard on high kerbs and them getting splashed if caught out without a raincover!

Used to have a kidz kargo 3 wheeler. One child in front of the other - i wont even dignify it with a review! Bleughhhhhh!

As for the car seat issue. When my 3rd in 4 years came along i had to buy a bigger car. Had a scenic and couldnt get the 3rd in! Had to buy a car with 3 full size seats. Ended up being 7 seater Sharan, i do hear the picasson has 3 full size seats in the back though.
    Good luck!

Have you tried using a sling with your 10 month old? It might not work if you do have twins, but my SIL generally carry one of theirs in the sling and one in the (single) buggy, and all the shopping goes on the bottom of the buggy. My nephews are 6 months and 25 months. They've both been a lot happier in the sling than in the buggy, especially when tiny. And the whole lot is much more manoevrable than a double buggy is. I've taken the 25 month old to the park in a sling over the last year and was surprised how comfortable it was (plus you keep your hands free).

There was an advert in my GP's waiting room for a Twins (and more!) Club, so it might be worth asking there after your scan. I'm sure there's groups like that all over the place.

    Good luck!

netmums do a for sale section if your happy to have 2nd hand. i had age gap of 2yr 4months, and brought a mothercare side by side dbl buggy off there for £40 (complete with raincover, footmuffs etc)-this was cheaper than the raincover on its own!! I used it for about 5-6months which was a godsend, then sold it on to another mum for £40 again!
