Disconnecting from Talk Talk

Yes after 11 months of rubbish connection speed and service i can finally give 30 days notice of cancelling Talk Talk Broadband.
I've just spoken to customer services and they've taken my notice over the phone and requested a mac code which i was told would take 5 days.
Is this the norm for disconnection from Talk Talk these days as last year, people were talking about disconnection emails etc.
Counting down the days until i get a better service: :j
