Check what the touchpad driver is that's installed,

Control Panel - Programs And Features and see if the Alps driver is installed for the touchpad.

If it is, then go to http://www.synaptics.com/resources/drivers and download the driver for your operating system.

Go back to programs and remove the alps driver and install the synaptics driver.

Were i work we deal a lot with Acer, i have seen this problem before on Acer's and this is what Acer advised us to do, Acer admit that the synaptics driver is better than Alps but for some reason it does not come as a standard driver. I'm not saying it will fix your laptop but if you have alps, synaptics will improve the touchpad anyway and could fix your fault.

Not all Aspire Ones have Alps but try it if it does.
