    thought Amex was a charge card not a credit card (therefore no limit?)
    and what are you doing running it up to the limit anyway? :eek:

    I hadn't

    this is the maths that got my into a panic

    my limit was A

    My outstanding Balance was X

    The credit available was Y

    The recent transactions was Z

    now, in theory

    A = X + Y + Z

    but, in this case

    A = X + Y + Z + 94.50

    where that £94.50 had appeared from is what got me into a panic

    turned out to be to do with extra payments I had made, as mentioned previously

    Tbh whose business is it even if you han run it up to its limit?

    When my DH first got a barclay card the limit was only £600! So hardly hard to run up. And even on some of my cards now where Ive got several thousands pounds worth, I used to have to sometimes buy a £3-4k season ticket to get to work so that took most of it up.

    Just because someone uses a credit card up to the limit doesnt mean they are: A irresponsible, and B arent paying it off in full anyway!
