At this rate it will soon be cheaper to use your mobile if it isn't already, then people will ditch the landline completely if it weren't for the fact you need one for decent broadband!Time has moved on (much quicker than it used to - or so it seems at my age) and my previous advice on residential telephony has been or is now gradually being overtaken by changes in the retail market. Hi all
Got completely unhooked from BT about 3 years ago (with Sky) and am soooo glad when I read stuff like this. Sky looking after the line (and repairing/maintaining) has been absolutely fine.
All kinds of little discounts, and simple, simple contract...I recommend a speedy annulment for those of you fed up with the behemoth that is BT!!

Not happy with PO service or the lack of it I emailed them around a month ago with a question about whether it would effect my LLU broadband I need confirmation that it wont. No reply. So I emailed them again 3 days ago no reply. I really want to tell BT to go shove there line rental where sun dont shine I am sick to death of price rises and farting around with billing
I only use BT for landline and primus for phone. I know I will loose primus. I dont make many calls broadband is far more important to me than the phone0 -
Does anyone here have any personal experience with primus? At £6.49 they're well under half price of BT. I do not use my landline to make calls at all- I don't even have a phone connected to it. I have my broadband via sky and have the sky talk package ( i receive a discount for carrying all my calls via sky - the call i never make). Can i just switch to primus without down time on my broadband. Do i need to inform sky etc?
thanks0 -
If you use 1571 or caller display, just check that your new supplier can provide the same.
Secondly, before switching, try ringing the new supplier's service desk and see how long they take to respond. Some of the cheapest have really rubbish service.
Unfortunately, I can't get cable in my area otherwise I would have explored that option, but since it was not available, I did a deal on payment up front with a couple of add ons for nothing.0 -
I can't believe this is legal. How can they tell me of the price hike on the day they do it? Surely they have to give us reasonable time to decide if we want to continue with them at the new cost?
Can anyone tell me if there's any mileage in this argument before I give the BT call centre both barrels?
Many thanks,

PG, you will have received several notifications.
Look at your last bill, BT have been notifying (at OFCOM's request) since the 1st of September. Notification was included with the BT Update magazine and also in a copy of your bill.
If you are online and quarterly billed you do unfortunately run the risk of not actually hearing about it till after the 3rd, such as this case, but you are still allowed the same time frame as everyone else.
Your services may have gone up 95p or so, but a call to the retentions team could save you several pounds a month, ask them whats available before going in all guns blazing.0 -

Don't fall for the smokescreen about banker's pay. The UK is being looted.0 -
Just emailed BT to ask that I receive proper paper billings again as there's no longer any discount for paperless billing. They've emailed back saying 'Sorry, but unfortunately we won't be able to reply to your email.'
Not acceptable is it?!0
