Sorry for the lack of updates. I haven't had a veg box since the Abel & Cole experience and probably won't again for sometime. I now only use supermarkets.
I'm moving to a flat at the end of the month and hoping to find a local green grocer instead.
Also going to setup a herb & salad window box, to grow my own. Any tips would be handy!

as a very easy start you can buy growing salad (lettuce) with roots of from asda, in the salad section.... simply plant up - ditto with herbs. Once the growing season is more established most of the garden centres/homebase etc will have baby plants to 'plant' and grow on. I had hanging baskets with cherry tomatoes, and a large tub with poles and runnerbeans.
    have fun

Just ordered the Riverford box with the Telegraph offer. Will post a pic when it arrives tomorrow. :)

Yeah I'm having that problem now! Had 3 phone calls from them with new offers - I answer and asked to be removed from their mailing/calling list, told I will be and then the process starts all over again.
Same problem with the emails, unsubscribe does nothing - so I label it as spam and hope it gets filtered out.

Can you log into your account and change your tel number and email?

I got mine from Riverford today, I would say it is wirth the half price cost but never the full price cost. Not considering I got a bag of carrots from coop yesterday for 18p. The veggies from Riverford do look lovely though.

If you compare with the price of standard vegs boxes will be more expensive, they are cheaper than organic vegs bought in supermarkets on the whole (although I've not compared them directly myself).
I decided to buy a veg box because of quality, taste, and it will encourage us to eat more vegs than we normally do (we'll not want to waste lovely expensive stuff). Also we'll save on junk food :)

Thanks, was a bit worried that they wouldn't be worth the £6 nevermind the full price lol.

today I've received my order from riverford with the half price offer!
It's a seasons box, for 2-3 people £12.95 (free delivery but there is a charge for card payments, no charge if you pay cash/cheque on delivery)

Once you get over the fact that the vegs are a bit muddy, and get scrubbing the taste is absolutely incredible, something I hadn't tasted in years!
For example the broccoli were incredibly tasty, much more than even Waitrose's organic which I had the week before.
As soon as I started brushing the carrots they were already giving out a lovely smell, and we started munching away whole carrots as soon as they were washed.
Definitely worth it, as we will now be eating much more vegs and saving on all sorts of things we were having before, OH can't wait to have salads and vegs for lunch, instead of sandwiches and other tasteless stuffs.
Can't have one next week, but will definitely go back as soon as I can.
    V. happy customer here.

My veg box arrived on Wednesday, a week later than I expected. :o

Much prefer the look of yours terra, in particular because you've got 4 normal sized parsnips, unlike mine where I have one HUGE one and 1 normal. :D You've got a lot more broccoli than I got. I agree with you about the taste of the broccoli. I'll be trying my carrots tonight. Not sure I fancy tackling the sweet mama squash I got!

    I've been Money Tipped!
I have been using Riverford for a few years now and have never had any problems, we have a fruit box and a veg box once a fortnight. DH usually buys extra potatoes when he goes shopping.

I just leave a cheque on the doorstep for them, as you are charged extra if you use Worldpay.

The fruit and veg are lovely and we have tried things that we wouldn't have done otherwise. I currently have a fruit on my window sill, can never remember what it is called, but it is wonderful. The fruit and veg is very fresh, only very rarely have there been problems, the only one I can recall recently was with some strawberries last summer which really had to be eaten within a day.

What is nice with Riverford is that they occasionally have a glut of a particular veg - so you get extra for free.
It is a good idea to be alone in a garden at dawn or dark so that all its shy presences may haunt you and possess you in a reverie of suspended thought.

I must say that I've been really impressed, except a couple of sad looking pieces, that still tasted great.
They tend po pester you if you don't order, didn't get a delivery this week and got two phone calls and several emails to remind me.

I must mention their parsnips, they were incredible. I've never liked parsnip, don't do anything for me, but my OH really loves them. I grilled them on my GF, and the smell was sweet and almost flowery. It was like discovering a whole new vegetable, I was quite surprised that the humble parsnip could taste so delicious.
We have never eaten so much vegetables as we did last week, and so healthily, peppers grilled with no oil, leeks and chickpeas soup with nothing else than lovely vegetables.
I'm probably going to stick with them, it's worth it, and will try some of their other stuff, like fruit, eggs and cheese :)
