Tinned Fish

In Aldi there are small tins of tuna in different sauces - tomato and basil, lemon and pepper etc and they are 45p or 49p each. They are great for sticking on a pizza or using as a jacket filling.
I find tinned salmon is gross - I don't know what happens in the canning process that cause it to go horrible for me. Plus its so expensive. I can get twice the fresh salmon which tastes nicer for the same price.0 -
Thanks for the further replies.
stephen77 - Yes, tend to look down Morrisons frozen aisle.
JoJoB - Looks like a tasty recipe for tinned salmon/fish.
Thanks particularly for the replies regarding Aldi. Lidl still the cheapest local to me. However, the person I shop for is now having second thoughts about purchasing tinned salmon (too expensive).0 -
Please could anyone update me regarding the price of tinned salmon/weight of tin either at Lidl or Aldi. Thanks.0

My local B & M has big (500g or thereabouts) tins of sardines and mackerel in tomato sauce at 99p - incredibly good value! The OH loves either ofthem with pasta (mixed, in his case, with a jar of arrabiata sauce as he likes his chili....)
I also like the tins of herring or smoked herring in various sauces in Lidl - currently here they're on a special at 89p a tin for the plain ones so I've just stocked up on my favourites - the mustard sauce. This is Lidl N Ireland, so offers in your area may be different, but they're worth a look.0 -
Ok not tinned, but LIDL frozen 500g bag of 4 pieces of cod was very good. I think it was £2.79. I'll definately get again.Still virtually alcohol free since 4/1/15. (10 Xmas/ New Year/Birthday drinks)
It takes 3500 calories to lose a pound in weight. Target 13 lbs weight loss. 18.5lbs lost 2nd May - 28 September.0 -
Thanks for the replies and ideas. However, the person I shop for specifically wants the tinned salmon 400gr approx. It is well over £2 in Asda, Morrisons and Tesco so wondered if Lidl or Aldi are any cheaper? (Quite a trek to these stores for me).0
