Not tinned, strictly, but I find smoked mackerel a very inexpensive, healthy and easy dinner. Open the packet, add to some salad. Done.0

Hi, thanks for the replies. The person I am shopping for wants salmon tinned fish (wild pacific pink salmon). I think the cheapest available to me is £1.99 418gr at Lidl. Aldi is quite a distance but manageable, so wondered if anybody could first inform me of the price for the same?0

fresh sprats at morrison are pretty cheap and you get the omage 3 benefits.
I do not think tinned fish is that cheap once you have taken into the actual fish to sauce/oil ratio. Plus it does not taste anywhere near as good.
have you looked down the frozen isle?0 -

I make a tinned salmon curry which is really nice.
Fry up some onions and 1 clove garlic
add some chopped veg (I like butternut squash and red pepper for sweetness)
add some spices over a low heat (I use 1 teaspoon of mild curry powder, 1 teaspoon ground coriander, 1 teaspoon cumin, and add a little garam masala towards the end, if you need a bit more heat add a little chilli or chilli powder)
stir in a tin of chopped tomatoes and simmer
While simmering open tin of salmon, reserve the liquid, get rid of skin and bones.
Add salmon and liquid to the curry
Cook on a low heat for 15minutes or so
Garnish with chopped spring onions2015 wins: Jan: Leeds Castle tickets; Feb: Kindle Fire, Years supply Ricola March: £50 Sports Direct voucher April: DSLR camera June: £500 Bingo July: £50 co-op voucher0 -
Among tinned fish I prefer tuna.
Many recipes are made out of tuna. Tuna salads, tuna sandwiches are simply yum:j0
