  • Not a hope in hell for me. The garage have just phoned and the car is going to cost £360 to fix. Not only does that blow my nsd, it also blows my wedding dress saving fund and clears my bank account out completely.
I'm devastated - it's been one of those cars that I've had nothing but bother with but I just can't afford to get rid of it (still paying for the blimming thing).

Awwwww wannabee ....:( (((hugs))) - there's just always something to scupper "best laid plans" an 'all.

    If love it!:D

No more for me yet:eek: - silly small spends for milk etc due to not having the fridge.:(

CC bill arrived today and that will wipe me out - nearly an extra £800 of unbudgetted stuff on it (vet, fridge/freezer, house phones, kindle:o).

I'm also kicking myself as I asked to change the cut off date last month - the pay by date was the 1st of the month and as I don't get paid until the last working day, I never manage to pay before the dd had been "called" (set up for min payment in case I don't get a bill - which has happened in the past) so I always end up paying the balance +the min). They've put the date back by a week which should hopefully stop this happening - but it's meant that this bill incl an extra weeks' spending:eek: .... should've waited until January to change it!:o

  • Well I'll sneak back on here to report NSD #4 after all. Not in a good way though - the car still isn't fixed. The price hasn't changed, just means I'll have to fork out for it tomorrow or Friday instead.
I have no more money to buy anything else so the nsd's should rack up after that.
Thanks for your supportive words rising and marmite. I must admit I've had a few tears today - but I just can't manage without the car. Couldn't get to work otherwise, and I should be grateful that this has happened while I'm off work. :)

and today makes NSD #6 for me :)

Another day of going no further than the drive and resisting all internet stores..... though it was helped by the arrival of a new set of headphones for my iP0d, which will be thoroughly tested on a run tomorrow morning ;)

  • Honestly Wannabe I know exactly where you're coming from, you just feel like you're making progress and something (or several things) pop up.

I've been trying so hard to budget (never, ever done it before as always been in a "rob Peter to pay Paul" situation) and have been managing to put small amounts away to various pots each month since I recently cleared my debt (ie there's not a lot in them yet!).

I got a small tax rebate which I had planned on keeping for an "absolute emergency" buffer - but that will need to be used for the fridge/freezer, with the shortfall coming from the house emergency fund. The rest of the house emergency fund will be wiped out with the new house phones......

I have a pets pot which will part cover the vets bill - I hate the thought of being back to square one with this fund as I still have 2 pets. The shortfall for that will wipe out my credit union savings account (can only manage £10/month just now) that I'd started a few months ago to go towards when I need to replace the car.......

The Kindle (which was a total treat to myself after losing the dog :( although I did get it for a very good price with £26 off - and has been used everyday), will have to be covered by reducing payments to the various pots this month:o.

Still, trying to look at it from a positive view ...... although I'm back to £0 savings - at least I've covered it without getting into debt again. :)

I've just made my last payment to my bike (scheme through work so helps as you don't pay tax/NI on the amount) which was £15/month so will try to add this to the credit union savings to help make up the shortfall.

Anyway ..... sorry, enough of my dribbling on. I just can't wait for the New Year and hope I can get my head back together and start everything again:o
