Happy wiggle day everyone! Weather a bit calmer today so now off to the post office to post overseas Christmas cards (only a few, so not too much spending there.)
Well done all those NSD-ers catching all those NSDs, you will have to pass on your hunting tips as I seem to have lost the plot lately.....One life - your life - live it!0 -

Hope all of you are ok who suffered with the wind last night. Beanie, hope DS got home safely.

I already spent money today, that I'd borrowed for car parking when I had no change yesterday. But I'm reading with lots of interest and planning ready for the weeks ahead. I'm determined to have at least 4nsd this month. Hopefully even more. I'm going to start properly after Sunday because I have lots of busy busy stuff this weekend with kids birthday parties and shopping etc.
In fact I will see how I manage from Monday onwards.
Thanks for your tips so far people...Ninja Saving Turtle0 -

My first ever credit card arrived in the post this morning.
It is sitting on the table. I find it quite scary.
I got it as I need to build up some more (positive) info for my credit report, as there isn't much evidence of lending in the past. Nothing bad (well, there is the overdraft, which is around the £500 mark and interest free), but no info can be as offputting as negative info, and Mr Lotti and I want to try and rent a flat/house next year so need decent credit ratings.
Still, the interest rate unnerves me. Well, hopefully that will stop me using it for more than budgeted spends! My plan is for the first couple of months to only buy petrol with it as a) that is a necessary spend and b) I already budget for it, and then see where we go from there.
EDIT - yes, there is a debt hummock in my sig, but that is to family. Still need to pay it back asap, but not *quite* as nasty to deal with as bank loans or similar...“Obstacles are those frightful things you see when you take your eyes off your goals.”

Another spend day for me......
Was running short on spuds yesterday, which I could have could have gone and got locally yesterday evening but decided to leave until today as I wanted Mr T for some new headphones for my iP0d (another set bit the dust during my run yesterday morning).
Spent a considerable amount of time checking out the selection - having decided i wasn't paying £36 for an identical set as I've had two lots of those give out on me in the last 12 months!!! - and finally picked out a set where the ticket on the hook said just under £11. As I was spending anyway I also picked up a few other bits (a couple of mags, some DVDs I've wanted for watching over the festive season, and some dark chocolate with a long date that was in clearance due to 'slow sales' - 60% cocoa 100g bars, 20p each... so I got 10). As I came away from the checkout I thought the bill seemed high, and a quick skim showed the headphones had gone through at £30  Went back into the store, and the ticket was for a different set - but the only ones on the peg were the same as the ones I'd picked up !!! Had another lengthy look through them all, and in the end decided there were none appealed - either had the feature I wanted but were too expensive, or didn't have it which made them no better than my emergency back up set - so went and got a refund on them.....
So I'm now planning on mooching around the internet this afternoon in the vain hope of finding something that has the feature I want without needing a mortgage to buy them !!!
Also called into a garage on my way home as my power steering's cut out a couple of times in the last few months. Turning the engine off and back on has always 'fixed' it, but my chap suggested last weekend it could be that some liquid needs topping up - fine apart from there's no mention of that in the handbook, and the only mention of power steering failure says to take the vehicle to a main dealer !!!
Partly good news, partly bad.
Good - I'm not going to completely lose my power steering at any point.
Bad - it's down to the fact I have a 'city' setting (or 'girly button' as my chap calls it), and it's this that causes the problem (it's always failed when I'm in reverse using that). Apparently it puts a load onto a motor that the motor can't cope with - hence causing it to cut out. I'm told that the 'worst' that will happen is that the city light will stay on permanently, but I'll not get any assistance from it. To fix it means replacing the motor, but to do that they have to replace the entire steering column - at a cost of around £500
I think I'm going to follow his advice and try to become less reliant on the city setting (there are a few situations I can't cope without it easily, but shall do without when I can), and the replacement can go whistle unless I have a decent l0ttery winCheryl0 -
