2012 and nothing has changed, my daughter and I returned £200 worth of faulty goods and after, no exageration, 45 mins wait we were told that although it is slow to load it is not faulty, refund refused. The store's policy was clearly stated on the wall and within 21 days maybe returned if unwanted. To the store managers credit he was very professional and it was a calm conversation. We argued that if he insisted it was not faulty then, as it was bought 7 days earlier, we could perhaps return under their unwanted goods policy. After a lengthy discussion we asked to take the goods away and that we would seek further advice. A refund was given but my daughter was very upset and not how she would have wished to spend her day off.

how do you know nothing has changed?
The original OP of this rather old thread that you have resurrected, did not actually come back to tell us about the outcome.
The outcome for you wasn't too bad, you got your refund, the way you got there sounds like was a lot of hassle.
  • Thank you for your reply terra_ferma. I'm new to posting so it was good to read your comments. I take your point though. You are correct it was a stressful situation and time spent with my daughter is precious. No store wishes to make a refund, I understand this as it is a lost sale, exchanges do not seem to be difficulty with HMW but refunds are.

HMV's return policy said it could be returned, but it didn't specify you were entitled to a refund - which you weren't legally entitled to, so the problem is not with HMV rather with your poor understanding of consumer law.
Retired member - fed up with the general tone of the place.
