Hi to all on the forum,

I have an old nokia 1208, had it for many years,( Long time nokia fan, still have my trusty 8210 in the drawer as a back up. )

As i havent updated for a long while, my contract with t mobile is £5.21 per month which is for 100 mins, 100 texts and flexible booster which is set on unlimited texts.

Have been looking to get a newer phone, but the market is filled with all singing all dancing phones that confuse me.

Did get offered the i phone 3gs still with t mobile 15.32 a month = 50 minutes, 500mb and 50 texts , now dont know if this is a good deal, as i was also thinking about getting a 2nd hand ipone 3gs from ebay or gumtree and just changing my flexible booster to internet, thus keeping my monthly spend at £5.21 . ( i know i should be able to pick up a 2nd hand iphone 3gs for £100 - £150 , but am slighlty afriad should it develop a problem with being 2nd hand )

Or any other suggestions for a newer phone, either contract or even buying a pay as you go newer version from tmobile to keep my monthly cost at £5.21.

I would use internet for facebook, hotmail, ebay, amazon general websites, not bothered about music or utube , so would hope that the 500mb would be enough ? Is there anyway to keep track of data useage or cap it at that level ?

Sorry to go on for so long but most of this is confusing to me
Any advice would be great guys,
thanks for reading:)

The screen on the iPhone 4 (and 4s) is much nicer due to the higher resolution IMO.

If all you are going to be doing with it is making calls and browsing the internet, not downloading lots of apps, there's no point paying extra for an iPhone though. Get a cheaper smartphone.

Definitely buy a sim free phone to keep your existing deal as it is cheap. You can get good deals on the 3gs.

    Hello,

iPhone 3GS's are kinda becoming redundant mostly because of Apple forcing them to. Most of the big apps in the app store now are being made only for iPhone 4 / 4S. It happened to the 3G and it's happening to the 3GS now. I would go for a iPhone 4 if I were you. If you look hard enough on eBay you can get a great price for them :)

Nearly all the app s on iTunes work on iPhone 3gs if you upgrade to the new ios5 there's thousands

I only have the 3gs and every app i have put on my phone works fine
    I have 3gb worth of app's

The reason they stopped making firmware for the 3g is because the processes is a lot slower then the 3gs.

Thanks to all on the forum for all your replys

I think the iphone 4 might be out of my price range slightly, whch is why i was looking more towards the iphone 3gs to be able to buy one sim free to keep my exsisting deal to allow me just to change my flexible booster,
but as we are on the run up to christmas prices esp on gumtree are slightly lower with iphone4 with people wanting a quick sale.

Any other good alternatives you guys would also recommend ?
