Petrol prices in France

I'm travelling to St Malo for the weekend on friday 2nd December. Does anyone know if it'll be cheaper to fill up the car before I go, or wait until I get to St Malo? I live in Southampton and the cheapest petrol here at present is at ASDA £1.30 per litre. Also, is it better to buy euros or just use my debit/credit card over there? Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

Petrol is around €1.45 - €1.52 a litre in France now (depending on where you get it, motorways being v. expensive), so the days of cheaper petrol on the continent are well and truly over.Accept your past without regret, handle your present with confidence and face your future without fear0

Cheapest is in supermarkets so using credit/debit card is often a must as a lot of their stations are unattended
Diesel is still cheaper there, but petrol costs same or more. Use your credit card as some debit cards charge extra per transaction costs (see card guide from Martin)
Look up supermarkets before you go if on the hunt for cheaper petrol0
