Hello, I live with my girlfriend in her parents house and they have wifi. Nobody can really remember where they have got it from, my girlfriends brother seems to think he had it free with a contract phone over a year ago. He doesn't use the phone anymore, but we still have access?
Please forgive me as I am not a technology nerd, we are about to get a new tv with wifi and are hoping to watch films via lovefilm etc but I am concerned with using too much data and then suddenly we have a huge bill.
My Girlfriends parents also wouldn't take kindly to me fiddling about with the phone / broadband so can I just get wifi access without changing the phone? I'm thinking maybe on a dongle or something? Then I can just have a monthly bill and know my limits etc?
Please help, very confused!
Thanks
Chris

I'm sure if they have not secured their connection, they won't mind you using their connection, surely? Data services are usually unlimited, but if there's a cap service will simply be restricted then re-set. If the phone line is already providing ADSL BB (and the WiFi connection) you will not be able to have another service running in parallel, this means another line, or a Dongle - and there's no way Internet TV over a dongle is going to work well due to data limits.0
