Anyone got a Motorola Defy Plus ?
Nearly out of contract with Orange on my W995. Would love to hear from anyone who has one.
The Defy Plus looks just right for myself and the amount of battering my phone gets.
Hope to get it through Orange - come on Orange - pay attention to these posts !
Thanks in advance, Bob

Motorola did get told by the ASA they were misleading people with their adverts as to how damage proof the Defy was.

I own the origanal motorola defy, and its taken a bit of a battering, and tis still going strong.
first of all, its not drop proof ( as the ASA complaints show) gorilla gals is scratch resistant, but if dropped at the wrong angle, the galss will break.
My defy usualy (but not always ) lives in a case with a flip down cover, to add some protection against drops.
Having said that my defy has survived the odd short drop ( its even got a slight dent on the bezel next to the screen ) as well as the folowing...
Having a pint of beer spilt over it ( happened twice)
been dropped in the bath
its been swimming after leaving it in my swim shorts pocket, in a swimming pool.
dropped in a muddy puddle, the speaker stopped working after this as it was clogged with mud, the solution was to wash the phone under a running tap
droped in a stream.
and a few other miss haps.
One negative is motorolas software support that is severly lacking, i bought my phone outright, and the best official update is andoid 2.2 ( froyo) and apparently thats it, and the Froyo update took forever. Other manufacturers have been much more attentetive with older phones and updates
However if you root it, and install a custom rom things will look somewhat better.
the only problem is that motorolas bootloader is locked, and this adds a level of complexity in updating the phone - it can be done, its not difficult and the end results will give you a much better phone and are well worth the effort.
My defy is currently running Android version 2.3.7 via cyanogenmod 7 and hopefuly in the next few months it will be running Android version 4.x ( ice cream sandwich ) via Cyanogenmod 9.
I bought my origanal defy sim free, so it can be used with whatever sim card i place inside, the Defy + curently retails for just under £240 on sites such as amazon.0
