I think they're a bit of a fad to be honest, not that effective.
I'm not a dog though, should be clear about that, and dogs are often a bit weird.0 -

They do not too comfy, in my opinion, but both i have a large dalmatian and choccy lab. The choccy lab has very bad hips and he loves it, in fact they both do.
My Dane had one of these from Ebay (cheaper version!) after the beanbag exploded/disintegrated. She loved it too, and never had any problems with hips/arthritis etc. Maybe because it was off the floor, so avoided drafts?0 -

Aren't they just! I just wish mine would go to sleep curled up because that would increase the bed options, but he seems to like to stretch out and take up as much space as possible!
I think I may try one of those 'Tuffies' mentioned above as they seem to come in a large size and aren't loose filling. Sleeping bag on the top and his fleeces (I order fleece off Ebay for about £1 a metre...great for easy washing dog bedding!)“Don't do it! Stay away from your potential. Good lord - do you have a truck to card them around in? I bet you have wipe clean paint on the walls as well don't you...I know I do!“Don't do it! Stay away from your potential. What about something like a cot mattress (could imagine you'd pick one up off Freecycle since people get told to replace the mattresses on hand-me-down cots) or a seat cushion from a sofa (again the sort of thing people would be chucking if the actual body of the sofa was old and past it)?
As for dogs being a bit odd - well one of mine's decided the place she wants to sleep is on top of the other dog, neck bent at a comedy angle up against the wall, legs pointing vertically up the wardrobe, tongue hanging out at a comedy angle... so there's no accounting for canine logic (or style or dignity apparently)!Little miracle born April 2012, 33 weeks gestation and a little toughie!0
