Yes you would be financially worse off by striking. But you would have demonstrated that you don't like promises made to you to be broken.

jolly good show, you really stuck it to them etc. showed the government you wouldn't stand for it.

I believe this government has deliberately set out to turn the private sector against the public sector. Probably so that they won't meet with much opposition when they come to privatise these services.

Didums. The people they need to go after are the boomers. All those NHS workers should be getting the decimal point in the wrong place when administering medication each time they get a boomer to treat. Within 5 years, those that have stolen this nations wealth would get the message.

    I totally agree.

Stop breaking your contract/promise by striking.

    I

Other interesting note, I dont know many in the public sector who CANT strike (police and military) that support the strikers either. Most I speak to think they should rot, be sacked and rehired on 75% of their original pay. Its not as if there is much work outside for them all, is there?

I don't blame you, remind me again what age do you 'can't strike' lot retire at ;) BTW have you taken your treatment today?

We dont know. By the time I get to retire, I fully expect to have to work at mcdonalds from the age of 55 (mandatory retirement) to when I am being told at present I can expect to retire (60).

I dont mind though. It means that I get to tell other socialist scum public sector workers how utterly, utterly pathetic they are. Oh, by time served, our final salary scheme pays less than the police and NHS get.

Enjoy your day off, public sector. We'll still be here to pick up the tab for your pension when you retire, no worries.

If the public sector pensions bother you so much, why didn't you decide to work in the public sector. Everyone knows public sectors pensions have always been better than those in the private sector.

Erm, the public sector already uses private services, and why? Because they're more efficient. The NHS uses mostly private suppliers for example.

I have to say that many of us in the private sector are getting more than a little tired of whining featherbedded public sector employees who are getting higher pay rates, better pensions, and far less inducement to work more efficiently. You would be amazed how little support there is for the strike in my office, where people are having to take ad hoc holiday or pay for child minders.

It would actually be a great thing for the private sector to run most services, because it would cost less and the profits would go to build wealth and be taxable.

Pension projections are not promises, they're projections. Things change. Most of us have seen our own defined benefits schemes changed to defined contributions, and the companies who are generating the money to pay these are having to be taxed to the eyeballs so that you can have your excellent (even after the changes) pension. Be thankful the government is too scared of the unions and won't move you to defined contributions any time soon.
