but i do pay public sector workers pensions ... i cant afford a pension of my own ... but i have to pay one for the public sector workers ... that cant be right either
Technically you pay tax to HMRC. The Treasury then allocate that money. They do pay for the Public Sector but whether that was via a private contractor or kept inhouse the price would no doubt be pretty similar.
If the Government didn't provide the public sector then you would have to pay privately. Whilst you may not use all of those services, at present, you probably will do so through a lifetime.
Paying collectively through taxation probably doesn't work out that much more and you know it is there if needed like an insurance. Other things would probably cost more too, e.g. house insurance if you didn't contribute to a "police" force or a "fire service"
If the government didn't provide the public sector I doubt tax would reduce much. The bulk of the payments don't go to services but things like benefits and state pensions."If you act like an illiterate man, your learning will never stop... Being uneducated, you have no fear of the future.".....

So they can take over and look after you by paying taxes to help pay for your pension;)"If you act like an illiterate man, your learning will never stop... Being uneducated, you have no fear of the future.".....

Its a blatant pay cut, its part of the renumeration package they signed up to. Why should someone who has contributed into the scheme for 20 odd years opt out because those Westminster clowns have decided to change the rules on a whim?

Thats a bit like me saying I pay for your bins to get emptied, kids education yadda yadda...0 -
but some of them do... i used to pay £200 a month into a private pension and a friend that works in the public sector put in just £60 a month ... her pension pot was better than mine ( ok she had been paying in just a couple of years more) ... i had to cancel my pension because my husband went on long term sick ( mental breakdown) his company didnt give anything other than ssp ... so whilst i cant afford to pay for a pension for myself ... some of the money i am paying into taxes/ what ever ( and i know others do too) are going towards other peoples pensions ... that isnt fair no matter how you cut it ... i cant afford it but i have to pay for others ... and yes i do use services ... but believe it or not ... i pay for them ( just like everyone else does)0

Why are the banks getting bonuses? Surely they should have to pay back?
Why are we not tackling benefits and fraudulent claims like promised?
Ensuring that public sector institutions are slick without damaging the service provided.
Why arent we looking at how much Mps are getting? and all the other hangers on?
Why don't we charge tourist taxes or for entry visas?
Instead of giving child benefit why dont we give every child a school dinner which creates jobs and revenue whilst ensuring the money is spent on the child.
Why do we keep borrowing money? Surely the country should be able to balance its books?
Partly because the amount raised would be trivial in the scheme of things. If you reduce the pay of MP's etc you'd hardly notice the amount saved compared to the defecit.
Contray to popular opinion the bankers on huge bonuses are actually quite a small number. To tax them at 90% you get a bit in but most would leave the UK - just like the companies are already doing so as I mentioned earlier. Most bankers don't earn huge/vast amounts.
I'd agree with you on the fraud issue though.
Why do we keep borrowing money?....because the UK population like all populations is stupid and consistently votes for parties who promise "more spending" at each election. To get elected the parties must promise this and hence we can only meet it by borrowing ever more.
As soon as someone says 'stop' the outrage bus starts up and off we go listening to them all on Radio 4 bleating on about "cuts " and how bad they are and how they are devastated................so we just keep on borrowing.0 -

yep you do ... but you also pay for your own bins to get emptied yadda yadda yadda ... i cant afford a pension on my money ... yet i pay for other peoples... you dont pay for my pension ... that is my point0 -

Your pensions would be worth jack if it hadn't have been for the taxpayers bailing the banks out and didn't continue to prop up the entire country and banking system. Public sector employees pay tax too.
Think carefully before typing.
We are all paying for each other to use different services and get different outcomes from the tax system. Doesn't matter if you are a private or public sector worker. While one person may use childcare credits, another one doesn't. Do you say it's not fair that someone gets childcare credits, while you don't?0
