School off tomorrow can kids go into town?

Youngest school is closed, strike, in town there are always the police stopping the kids for trauncy taking their details down and trying to send them back to school but tomorrow it will not be so can he go into town on his own to meet his friends?

I am going on the same bus with him but he wanted to go with his friends to macdonals seen as he is off school, just wondering if the police would stop him?

  • No, they won't stop him. There'll be millions of kids off school tomorrow. And even if they do, you can prove his school's shut so he's not truanting anyway.

I can imagine they will have their hands full if they try to. Lots of kids will be in town tomorrow with and without parents. I'd be inclined to let him go but give you a ring if he gets stopped so you can pick him up. he wont exactly get into trouble and they cant send him back to school because its closed!

Just tell him if a policeman stops him not to worry. Kids shouldnt be afraid of the police anyway :)

blimey I'm impressed the police do any of that in your town - they don't here!
As approximately 90% of all schools are supposed to be closed due to strikes tomorrow, I'd say your son will be perfectly safe tomorrow, and won't be challenged by police for being in town without you.

They are red hot here, they walk up and down and I have seen once that they had an interpreter because the person they were trying to talk to said he did not speak english so they radioed through and got a translator, they see a child and always go straight up to the parents and ask why the child is not in school, they ask to see papers, they ask to see docs, dentist appointment cards, they are very thorough:D

Don't take this the wrong way, but have the police not got anything else to do?
