Booking Eurostar tickets on RailEurope site

Options
Hi,

Does anyone have any experience of booking Eurostar tickets on www.raileurope.co.uk

A quick look this morning ... prices are the same, looks like raileurope dont charge a credit card fee, better cashback at quidco too.

Anyone know of any disadvantages of booking via raileurope? eg. will i still be able to choose my own seats or change them via hte eurostar site afterwards??

Thanks in advance.

Do a dummy booking and read the small print as you go,

    although if you read http://www.raileurope.co.uk/Default.aspx?tabid=2042
on the General tab, 1.1 says "The terms and conditions applying to the Ticket/Pass purchased are agreed with and taken as accepted by you at the time of payment (including any additional terms specific to the product purchased)."

So there may be additional terms that could be inflexible.

Watch out for additional charges like seat reservation fees which are free with Eurostar

Thanks all. think I'll just play it safe and go via the Eurostar site? Anyone seen cashback better than the 2% at quidco or any promo codes valid in March?

  • In my experience, Rail Europe's customer service is shocking, my experience was with the groups department, I was looking to spend around £3k, and they were a nightmare, took forever to reply, asked the same questions over and over again, offered me options that were totally unsuitable, e.g. wrong dates, trains that left before our prebooked eurostar arrived, trains that missed the return eurostar, and to top it off wouldn't quote me for the passes I wanted, only for individual tickets that costed 3x what the passes did. Went elsewhere in the end to a small company that gave us a group discount and were super helpful, and gave us some really good tips about the passes we bought, where we could get extra discounts etc
