  • Hi, I'd like to join please. I only joined the site towards the end of last year, but I'm finding that it really keeps me motivated and I know that there are like minded people out there!

I'm going to aim for what is a measly amount compared to the rest of you - £2000 - That is the yearly amount that is paid off the car loan plus the 2 CCs and a little bit of the overdraft. It's not a lot, but I (hopefully) start a new job in the next few weeks and this is going to leave us with about a £5 a week deficit against my current budget, so don't have the space to overpay unfortunately.

Anyway looking forward to starting this and at least gettign the CCs cleared.

    Car loan: FREE! :j
    THE PLAN: 1.Pay off debt £8808.42(£3254.45, £1570.32, £2698.33, £0:dance:, £1000, £285.32) 2.Save monthly for Christmas/insurance etc £150 per month 3.Save for emergencies /£1500 4.Save for our B&B £????depends which one takes our fancy :D

Welcome to the thread wannabehermit - there's nothing measly about £2000 - especially if funds are tight, it's a big amount to have paid off. Good luck with the debtbusting :)

Can I join pls? I cleared £24k in 2011 and now the next challenge: clear £30k in 2012.
The amount is our mortgage on our investment flat (well, our pension really), and it stands as £30k plus interest at the moment. We aim to clear around £2.5k a month, anything more is a bonus. We are in a different position this time as all the rent we get will count towards this amount.

    So kavics17 0/30000

It's so nice to see lots of people returning from last year and lots of new people signing up as well.

Has anyone got any plans as to how they are going to make their targets?

Mine is mainly through car booting, ebaying and amazoning everything that is not nailed down. (I have a lot of clutter to clear). I'm also going to try and cut down on my unnecessary spending (I've got into a bad 'buying lunch' habit again) and try and raise extra funds elsewhere where I can.

    What's everyone else planning?

For me it will be pay onto the cards whatever is left at the end of the month. Any ebaying and car booting etc we do will go to things like days out in school holidays so that we're not having to spend out on those. Then whatever is left on payday will go onto one of the CCs whether its 28p or £28.

My biggest overpay will be from the money that I currently use to pay off on my credit card - this should be paid off end of December so going to try and snowball my loan.

Also wanting to ebay, survey and anything else legal to chuck any extra bits at it. My target is slightly more than I have managed this year but hopefully I wont have the same hiccups next year. My loan should take another 5 years to pay off - I am going to try in 3 years and anything sooner will be a bonus :D
