Total of £177.10 paid off the loan and credit cards over the last week
so my total is now at £6053.53 / £5000

I have paid over and above what I had originally hoped for but have also worked out that a huge chunk of what i have paid has been in interest payments nearly half altogether.

I have managed to get all the credit cards bar one transfered over to 0% deals over the last couple of months so I am hoping that next year if I can continue as I have been then my debt will have fallen a whole lot more:cool:

  • Hi everyone  It's been a while since I was on. Unfortunately I'm signing off of this challenge for this year. We've now been without housing benefit for 3 months, and at £120 a week it's making a bit of a dent. I've been assured that there are only 2 more cases in front of mine to be dealt with, but that doesn't help right about now. DH's new work have also messed up his tax each month so for the 1st 2 months he was paying 33% tax as they hadn't taken into account the tax he'd paid on his last job. They're refusing to rebate him saying it's his old jobs problem. He's on the phone to payroll weekly telling them it's their problem becuase they f***ed up not his old work, but it's getting nowhere. So we're struggling a bit to say the least. Needless to say being about £700 a month down means we've had to use credit. Great. So the credit cards that were coming down so well are now at their limits as food and diesel has had to go onto them. When this HB is finally dealt with a nice big chunk will go onto the cards but it's not a great time of year. 4 birthdays in the house and Christmas, plus MOT is due start of next year so a lot of what I pay off will go back on until we're square.

Ah, it's a nightmare to say the least. BUT DH is coming round to my way of thinking wrt debt and saving for things instead of sticking them on credit which is good. He's learning :D.

I will be back next year and hopefully there'll be no job changes to mess up the housing benefit. In the meantime good luck to everyone. Well done for the debt cleared so far, and see you next year .

  • Sorry your having trouble wannabeahermit, what a pain it must be i hope its sorted quickly :) fingers and toes crossed :) keep us posted :) look foward to seeing you next year xxx
