I just checked my mortgage and was pleasantly surprised to see that we owe less than I thought. Which has spurred me on to get rid of our credit card debt so that I can tackle mortgage overpayments next, especially while the rates are so low.

    Hellooooo!!

Please can I join the 2012 challenge? I was number 78 in the 2011 challenge but will take on a new position number if necessary!
I didn't quite meet my target this year, but that was due to moving house twice and going on maternity leave! My target for 2012 includes some of what i didn't pay off in 2011 and also a bit more.

I'd like to pay off the following:
    £500 to Capital One
    £1,500 to Barclay overdraft
    £2,450 to Barclaycard

I am going to pay a monthly repayment to each account, and add a little more by using save the change, ebay, car boots and my loose change. I'm going to pay them off in the order above. I hope to be able to pay it all off but I'll still be on maternity leave until July. I will have to make my husband work harder and pull in more money heheh. I'd like to be a bodyshop consultant in the new year which hopefully would generate an additional income - just out of interest - does anyone know if this is allowed / illegal whilst on maternity leave? If I did it, I would pay the money directly into the overdraft account to clear it sooner.

So, after all of that ramble, would you please put me down for £4,450 in 2012.

BTW I've calculated the amount on what I owe now as per my most recent statements. i have not included any interest that would be accrued. (The Capital One card is 0% until May, hence the need to pay it off first).

Well, if i don't get chance to write again, I'd just like to wish every one a merry christmas and a happy new year. All the best!

    Hi again
I know it's still December but I've made my first payment to the 2012 challenge - hope this is ok? It's a debt that wasn't included in the 2011 challenge!
I've paid £13 to Capital One. Therefore my balance is £13 / £4,450.

    Thank you

Good to see you again Birdseed, you'll have a new number this year. I don't know about the bodyshop whilst on maternity leave thing I'm afraid.

It's not a problem to start paying now, it's your challenge so it's fine! I've started too, on a debt that wasn't included in the 2011 challenge.

  • Can I change my target to £6540 please?

I'm off the mark with a payment of £100 towards my loan so that's £100/£6540.
