  • I doubt Comet will discuss that here, or anywhere. OP however can contact Comet and ask why.

    Hi Chris

Could you comment on how / why you have removed customers feedback? Surely it should be a level playing field for all regardless of size. If a customer of mine leaves negative feedback eBay are VERY unlikely to remove it.
The point of there no longer being a level playing field is a valid one, however I have had feedback removed under similar circumstances, defamatory remarks are removed pretty quickly in my experience.

More valid questions would be how often this happened, how many customers were affected and have Ebay issued a warning regarding future conduct?

There are a few larger sellers who have either decided not to work with Ebay or stopped after a while because of their higher customer requirements.

    This is very true.

"defamatory remarks are removed pretty quickly in my experience."

This isn't so true, I could leave you feedback saying your product is fake and unless you have a court order for removal the neg will stand. If you want the comment removed you have to file the deformation form with eBay but the red dot stays.

I guess Comet has some clout with eBay but I spoke to the guy running the ID for a different high street retailer over an issue and mentioned their feedback as an aside but they said eBay weren't very helpful, the guy seemed open about the issue I had so I don't think he was lying re the feedback.

This error occurred due to a mix up between ourselves and Ebay and as soon as we became aware of this problem, we contacted all effected customers to advise of the error and offer either a refund or an alternative delivery date.

We have all listed on ebay you know we know how it works. Its hardly ebay's fault its the person you employed to input and upload for you. This needs to be explained was an extra 0 added or was it uploaded early? You don't wait a whole week then say its out of stock and contact people that late its very rude. As soon as you were getting item sold and paid and could not pack/despatch the items you should have realised and ended the listing. For your own paypal protection you have to despatch within 7 days.

Op how many people purchased after you and for how many days did the listing last?

The outlet section does seem to have their own view on doing things and they get away with it unlike the personal seller who often bends over backwards. The personal seller cannot afford to get a nice lawyer to write a letter etc.

Just got an email from Comet saying that they made no requests to remove feedback and recommended I take it up with Ebay who they say did it themselves unprompted!!

If only Ebay were so efficient in other areas, especially when you see some of the feedback that is left for people that is not removed.

    Most strange.

Maybe someone else complained about the feedback? An employee looking for a better xmas bonus maybe?

To be fair there is still a problem with a glitch uploading sold listings on the automated assistant. eBay recognise this and say they are fixing it. When your item has sold, eBay is kindly realisting it for you at your low stock level. So sell 100 and have a low stock alert for 10 and you may find its relisted another 10 when your stock hits 9.

So you may know how it works, but currently it isn't working. :D
