Application of wet dash - whos a pretty boy?

    Voila - Finished product

It's definitely not that, it's much thinner and the "dash" is much finer. As the house has protruding window surrounds, and the texturing has been applied to the outside of the surrounds but not the face, you can see it's very thin.

Also that butter coat would be impossible to apply to profiled steel - first you couldn't spread it as the steel has corrugated ridges designed to look like wood (like the single storey houses pictured above) and second I'm sure it would just slide off a smooth surface like steel.

ive never seen render applied direct onto tin cladding.
if anyone did try it then they would have to use summat like a mesh backing first.
    Get some gorm.

It's definitely not render, it's more like a type of paint. BTW, how long before I can post photos on here?

These properties can be completed in an external render system, but first you need to tin top them with 8x4 sheets, then mesh over the top prior to applying the system. Just completed 40 of these for a company in bristol, cost comes in around 6400 for a semi, system is approved by energy saving council for reducing thermal heat loss to.

Yes, I've seen quite a few of them have been done like this, but I'd rather not do that as it makes the house look rather ugly in my opinion; I'd rather put insulation in the walls from the inside when I redo them. That should also be more DIY-doable too.

Here are two round the corner. The one on the right has the original cladding but has been nicely maintained; the one on the left has been rendered. The upper story profiled steel was designed (by Sir Frederick Gibberd no less) to resemble wood cladding and looks rather like a Scandinavian house to me.
