sebbelcher contact your local council they may use rolling registration, allowing you to get your name on the electoral roll quicker.
you will get on the electoral roll, sure, but it wont update at the credit bureau till next october - this has always been the case in the past, as i said.
    Friendly greeting!
  • Having just requested my credit files from all 3 agencies I was surprised to find 6 searches on 2 reports and 3 on the third. I have not applied for any kind of credit for over a year. I do not have any recollection of the companies mentioned - three different ones but all the same company on the individual reports! I've approached one credit reference agency and the associated company only to be told neither have any details regarding the trace and hence are unable to tell me why 6 searches were carried out over a period on 5 months with 2 being carried out on the same day twice!
Another of the companies carrying out the searches have said that it is because they are trying to trace somebody with the same name and date of birth but that it wouldn't effect my credit file. The respective credit reference agency has since said that the searches are visible to other lenders!
Has anybody had any experience of this kind of problem? I initially became concerned when the company trying to trace somebody got my mistaken identity and asked for me to send a copy of either my passport or driving licence! Yeah, like ok, here you go!:rotfl:

You can usually submit to them in writing to take the searches off your report. My fiance recently found some searches that he KNOWS he didn't apply for & Experian took them off without fuss or hassle after an e-mail about it.

I'm aware that I can request for the searches to be removed but would like to know how they got there in the first place as from what I have read companies must have your permission prior to carrying out a search.

I now know that a company called Honour Student Loans have carried out searches with two CRA's. One of the CRA's show that the searches were either carried out by another company on their behalf or that the data was provided by this company to them. I'm now wondering if that might be the case with my third CRA? Has anybody else had any dealings with this Honour Student Loans company. They're chasing me for an unpaid student loan. I don't have any outstanding loans and have never even been a student!!

  • I have a reasonable credit rating, but my records show details from an old Midland bank credit card, with several missed payments. The account was paid off and closed in 1994, but it is presumably still affecting my score.

Can I ask (who?) to have it removed from Experian/etc?

Closed accounts should be removed after six years. Contact the CRA's and ask them to remove it.
  • Hi,

Does the Direct Debit late payment affect the Credit History. I recently changed a direct debit to my another Bank A/C. During this period, the monthly payments setup as direct debit was not paid. I noticed this after the second months due. I paid it for two monts in total with my card then. Does this late payment do affect my Credit History,

Can i claim against the bank who agreed to change this direct debit with one signature, but not intimated me the payments due arrived nor paid.

    Regards,

    tmd

Lots of applications can have a negative effect on your credit score, so stop applying for a few months. After that, the basic CapitalOne credit card is a good place to start. Interest rate is horrendous, though, so make sure you only spend what you can afford to pay off IMMEDIATELY.
