Is there a way of getting wireless internet in a caravan?

I have a static caravan which I am hoping to occasionally let out next year. What is the best way of getting the internet in the caravan either for other people to use whilst in there or just for us to use when we are in there? I know nothing about wireless dongles or whatever they are called and I have looked a bit into mifi but it seems a bit expensive.

  • Get a 3G Dongle or failing that depending on reception I would invest in the MIFI. Depending on where you plan to be I would rather have my own portable WIFI spot then rely on indifferent coverage.
I managed to get reception in a stone cottage in France with a 3G dongle so it might be worth looking at it as well.

A lot of the android phones have built in wifi spots, so with a good data package like 3 you can get all your eggs in to one basket, a phone with free minutes and a wifi hot spot in remote locations such as the caravan.
Mifi is good, but it is stand alone, can be used pay as you go though.
To be honest, when I go caravanning, the computers stay at home, you go to get a break from your routine. Why take it with you ?

  • Is it on a park with other caravans?

In which case, the best option would be to talk to the other caravan owners in the park, and if they're also interested then to potentially approach the park with a view to getting a Wi-Fi zone set up for the park (as opposed to individual caravans).

While the 3G (Mifi) option might sound appealing, what you don't want it to have that on a contract in your name, and then find that the £x profit you thought you'd made letting it out one week is undone by someone going overboard with the usage, and that isn't something that you'll be able to control or put a cap on.

Hence, pooling the connection and having one person responsible for it is a good idea - and, the park owners might see the benefit also to their tenants (e.g. you)
