Hi there,
I tried to find a thread/sub forum relating to Amazon but couldn't so sorry if I have posted this in the wrong place.
I placed an order with an Amazon marketplace seller for 2 electric scooters for my kids Christmas on 1st Nov.Expected delivery date was 14th Nov.
Money was taken from my bank account a few days after ordering but heard nothing from the seller regarding dispatch.
Had no delivery by 16th Nov so I emailed the seller to ask if everything was ok with the order, maybe there was a delay which is understandable this time of year. They replied saying they had been delivered to me on the 8th Nov.I replied back straight away saying this wasn't the case otherwise why would I be emailing?
They forwarded me the tracking numbers and TNT's website and to my shock looking at the POD there was a signature,my initials and my surname printed.I emailed back straight away explaining that although it has been signed that is nothing like how I sign or print my name and that it has been someone else. They were as shocked as me and said they would investigate.
A few days later the seller said TNT had escalated it to security management, this was over a week ago.In that time I also emailed TNT and have so far received no reply,I can't understand why they can't check who was on that route that day or why it's taking them so long.
Short of going to the police to report this I decided to contact Amazon themselves for advice.
I emailed them with all the details asking them what I should do next and the said they would file an A-Z claim on my behalf.
They put the claim in on the 23rd Nov but there has been no updates since.
Reading through the A-Z guidelines I discovered my claim could be refused as there is a signature POD although it isn't mine.
I haven't heard from the seller since the claim was filed either.
I don't know what else to do or what to think of this,I am a regular online buyer and never came across anything like this.
I don't think the seller is at fault but TNT,they have either had a dodgy driver who has helped themselves or have allowed someone to sign for them.
To add,I live alone with my 2 kids who were at school at the time they say they were delivered so couldn't have answered the door,I had a day off the day they claimed to have delivered them as I had a chest infection. There has been no card put through to say a neighbour took it in but I checked with them all anyway but they even said if they had taken them they would have signed their own name.
Has anyone been in a similar situation and can advise what else I can do?
If I lose my claim or if the scooters don't show up I can't afford to replace them and that's my kiddies Christmas ruined.
I'm also paranoid at the fact someone has been using my name.
Any help with this will be greatly appreciated, sorry for going on but I needed to get it off my chest too.
Thanks in advance

Annoyingly it has happened to us a few times as senders, it is usually down to us to put a claim in and the courier companies know it happens, if the seller is unwilling to claim for whatever reason you would need to go to the courier direct. You may be best writing a letter and addressing it to the relevant depot manager and asking them to compensate you and contact the seller. I'd be polite at first and then would ask for the name of the driver and that if they can't resolve it you will contact the police.
It may also be worth contacting Trading Standards who may be able to intervene and sort it out quicker for you..0 -
I think this is down to the seller to take up with tnt and claim if possible, as a customer it is not down to you. You could indeed be pulling a fast one (not saying you are just that the seller has no way of knowing) but that is their issue not yours. This is the perfect example of what an a-z claim is for. I rarely see amazon reject a claim as the customer is king on there.
You should be ok with this, sure it'll be sorted in your favour0 -
Unfortunately even a card chargeback would not cover you as it has been signed for, this might be a tricky battle for you, the first step is probably ask them to question the driver0

True but amazon will be more likely to give customer benefit of the doubt as they want you as customer, they couldn't give 2 hoots about the seller.
Not saying definitely but more likely.0 -
The first time it happened to me the buyer had gone straight to Ebay and I put the tracking details in and Ebay found in my favour. I later had to sort it out myself, a good lesson in contacting the seller before taking anything to Ebay..0

Thanks for the replies,
I have been in regular contact with the seller, they seem to be getting the same runaround as me
I understand that people out there do pull stunts like this but not me and I can see where it can be hard for a seller to see who has a genuine claim and who hasn't.
Apart from the money side of it,my main concern is that whoever has the scooters used my name to get them, not only does that leave me with a limited defence in a claim but also very worried what else they could use my name for hence why I was thinking of contacting the police for advice rather than let it go on any further,
I appreciate all the feedback, thank you x0
