Npower sending me debt collection letters.,, i'm not a customer

Can anyone help ?

I am at my wits end.

Npowr and sending me debt collection letters.

I am not their customer and never have been ! I am with scottish power 30 years + ,. soon to be with Eon though.

I have contacted Npower 10 + times over the past 2 months and no joy.,, or replies to my emails, just more letters !!!

I had never heard from them before now ?!?!

I have NEVER asked them to take over my supply

I have NEVER had a BILL from them,..

I have NEVER been informed if they were taking over my meter,.. which I know they have not done, as I've just paid my Scottish Power Bill.

I have never been in debt and It's really stressing me out !!:mad:

I have also just contacted the ombudsman, but is there anything else I can do ???

HELP !!!

You need to write to them making a formal complaint which they will then investigate. The Ombudsmen normally requires that you have done this prior to them investigating a matter for you.

    Hi chucklebutty,

That all sounds a little baffling if you've never been with npower
    - do you want to send your details and any information from the letters to forumresponse@npower.com and I can find out what's happening here?

    Best wishes

write NO CONTRACT _ RETURN TO SENDER upon them, seal them back up and post them back.
If they feel you have a contract, let them produce one, otherwise ignore them.
If they enter a credit notice, sue them.
Dont suffer fools !, let them do it themselves

Forget contacting the Customer Service Desk, WRITE by snail mail heading your letter COMPLAINT
By doing this you officially start the 8 week path to the Ombudsman

List the number of times you have contacted them and enclose copies of the Emails. Include in the letter that you expect them to reimburse you for the stress and demands on your time that they have caused you, to be worth £40 and that the meter is still running

I'm sorry this is stressing you out and really would like to get to the bottom of this.

I've not received anything yet so as soon as you can send an email to forumresponse@npower.com I can look at this for you.

It would seem reasonable enough to take up the Npower reps offer. I know you've emailed before but this time you will at least have a traceable contact to revert to.

If you want to check who is registered as supplying your address try going to your network operators website & you may be able to check there - eg http://www.northernpowergrid.com/ or see Uswitch for phone numbers for gas & electric http://www.uswitch.com/gas-electricity/who-supplies-my-electricity-and-gas/

Beyond that if you are certain that you have never had an Npower supply of any kind & they threaten (or even do so) to take you to Court, so what? Let them!

I appreciate it may be stressful at the moment but ultimately they've either supplied you or they haven't. If they haven't you will win, they will look foolish & you may even be able to claim against them for harrassment - rare as that is there was a recent example here http://www.which.co.uk/news/2010/10/npower-is-abominable-oppressive-unacceptable-233662/

I'd also take dogshomes advice & send a copy of any correspondence by post (preferably recorded delivery) & marked complaint.

Npower are historically notoriously bad at customer complaints (they were recently & eventually fined 2 million by the regulator) so it may take time but if you're right you're right & nothing they can say or do will change that fact. Good luck
  • I managed to escape from N Power 18 months ago, yet I still wake occasionally in a cold sweat.

Have you ever rented a property out to someone, or even had a business account...
Don't put your trust into an Experian score - it is not a number any bank will ever use & it is generally a waste of money to purchase it. They are also selling you insurance you dont need.
