Quick qu re calling mobile poss abroad?

Hi,
If I call a mobile number from a landline, how do I know if I'm calling abroad or not (ie if the recipient is out of the UK). I did a google but just got info about "how to call abroad", Vodaphone website said I wouldn't even need to put ++44, it said to just dial the number as normal and it would automatically route abroad.

So what I am worried about is, have I just incurred massive charges if I've accidentally called someone who is out of the country?

The way roaming works is that the person whose mobile phone you called paid the extra charges. So you don't care where they are in the world, you are just paying your landline -> mobile cost and that is all.
