Complicated private parking ticket dispute - HELP PLEASE!

Apols if this is a bit involved but I will try and keep it concise as possible....

My father died on the 27 July. On the 12th October my Mum takes a load of his stuff including heavy books to the Sue Ryder charity shop in Torquay. The staff in there "helpfully" tell her to take it around the back and they will open the rear door and unload it. It turns out they dont own the car park and on Nov 4th my father (he is still dead but also still the registered keeper of the car) receives a Parking Charge Notice for £60 from Premier Park of Exeter.

Unbeknown to me my Mum then appeals the PCN and in doing so declares she was the driver at the time....Grrrrr! Unsurprisingly she then receives a letter, to her, from PP rejecting the appeal.

At this point I get involved and tell her to ignore any further letters. She then get a second letter telling her its now £100 and if she does not respond in 10 days it will go to £250. Now she is getting nervous, dont forget she is an elderly widow who lives alone etc.....

Perhaps somebody can tell me what is best way forward here? As she has identified herself as the driver I wondered if we should I fill out the template letter and make it look as if we are going to play hard ball and hope that sees them off?

Thanks in advance for any help...

You should show your elderly mother the horror stories on here of people who HAVE PAID and then been stung for more money in "late payment" charges when they hide your cheque for a few weeks. Several hundreds of pounds worth !
You need to convince her this is a scam, because if you do not, she will find out the hard way and you will have to put a stop to it in the end.

First of all contact the charity concerned and ask them not to put other people into this position again. They don't want to loose donations but by telling people to use a car park that they have no control over they'll shoot themselves in the foot. People won't donate once they've had a ticket and the word will spread.

If your mum was legitimately the driver and has admitted to it then there is no point trying to now say she wasn't. Your best bet is not straight forward. You don't legally owe these clowns any money but they'll now try to pursue you for ever and a day now they have a name for the driver.

My advice would normally be to ignore it but now they have the name that could be difficult.

No, continue to ignore. Until you see an official court summons then don't worry. If you do receive an unlikey summons head over to www.pepipoo.com where you will receive excellent advice on what to do, in fact, you should visit anyway to set your mind at rest.
  • yep. continue to ignore. premier park have got an ID but nothing else.

stand firm. ignore the demands to come. don't pay.

There's no such thing as a complicated PPC ticket.

The simple answer is ignore, ignore, ignore some more.

So what exactly is complicated about this - IGNORE THE SCAMEMERS!

    There - easy! :)

And I agree about putting a bomb under the charity for putting people in this position.

nonsense,, its a parking charge notice, that you have recieved=ignore everything,,whether they know the driver, sleep with them, feed them etc etc,, it makes no difference,,just completely ignore everything from them or anyone else on their behalf,, you have NOT committed a crime/offence,, so nothing to worry about,,yes, you may get big scary red ink letters,, but hey,, we all have them on here,,remember its not legal,,its a scam,, so nothing will/can be done,,even when they threaten the,,,c,, word,,court,, it will not happen because they know they will lose,,,come back here for support anytime,,,do not give them one penny .sorry for your loss.

Yeah they know they'll loose all the time they threaten the registered keeper but in this instance they have the drivers name.

Sure, I'd love to recommend ignore but I've not encountered this scenario before so for me its unchartered territory.

cant believe your post tricky,, exactly as i have said,, what difference does it make????????????? that they have the drivers name,,do you not think its enough that they have had a sad loss,,to put needless pressure on them,,,,PARKING CHARGE NOTICES ARE NOT LEGAL NOTHING CAN/WILL HAPPEN TO YOU,,NO CRIME/OFFENCE COMMITTED.FULL STOP.stop your scaremongering or dont bother posting.

To change the subject - that needs sorting out. There are possible real offences and insurance issues there if it isn't.

Apologies if you already knew this.
