Briefly, didn't fancy using savings so I stuck it on the mort and from calculations it should on average generate double what the repayments are with all FIT/export proceeds being ploughed back into the mortgage. It's a nice wee overpayment mechanism. With silly low interest rates it should be paid off before interest rates go up significantly... Still trying to quantify actual bill savings but that may take sometime to build up a picture...0 -
Unfortunately for me, I have an east-west roof, with velux windows overcast by shadows. GGrrrrr.0

Good Afternoon Mildred,
Yes, you are correct. However; I will not need that "cash" for a "rainy day"; therefore the investment is just as happy sitting on my roof as it was when sitting in "Mr Northern Rock's" account.17 Sharp Panels. of 230 watts (3.91 KW)

I would not like to guess what technology will be available in 10 years time. I do know that some boffins have already invented 'solar paint', which can be painted over anything (e.g. your house) and effectively turns it into a giant solar panel.

 Nice.
The whole feed-in tariff scheme is profitable, even if it takes 10 years for it to start making profit. Regardless of new technologies etc - that will only me additional routes to make profit in the future :T0 -
Good Morning Mr Smith (are you the famous one from "The Matrix"?
As you are an keen on panels; what do you usually generate? Currently today at 1130 am in Cambridgeshire; I,m generating 2,100 watts from a 4 kw system orientated to an angle of 200 degrees.17 Sharp Panels. of 230 watts (3.91 KW)

Solar panels effecting the house selling price !!!
Personally i think a house selling in say 23 years time with solar panels fitted will be subject to more "haggling" than say a house in the same street in silimar condition , with no solar panels fitted
A-The buyer will be aware that large sum of money is due for the panels to maintain them
B-The buyer will want a full roof survey of the condition of the roofs, and its integrety.
Just my thoughts , and if there was x2 houses for sale in the same street personally i would be more inclined to go for the house without the 23 year old panels fitted as I know that the profit margin has already been sucked from them, and for me to benefit i need a large outlay , even if i decide i dont want them and have them removed a cost is still required on part as the new owner !!0 -
"Home of the Future" on Channel 4 featured them; also "Click" on the BBC News Channel - flexable see-through ones - and cheaper than current ones.17 Sharp Panels. of 230 watts (3.91 KW)
