Hawaii and Chicago - please help us plan a trip

We are planning on going to Hawaii and Chicago in June 2012. We want to do Chicago for 3 nights and then Hawaii for 7 nights. Think it's looking like a night in Chicago then (still got a while to plan and change plans though)!

Once we get to Hawaii I think Maui looks like the island for us (although looking at getting the "Hawaii For Dummies" book to make sure)! Really want to go see the volcano as well though.
