You must go for low discharge recharegables. Then go for the highest mAh capacity. AFAIK Eneloop XX and Ansmann plusE are both 2500mah so going for one of these is your best bet...but I would go for the Ansmann due to the slightly lower cost

I use these for my mouser and keyboard, as well as a camera
They are very cheap and can be charged, then put aside until needed.
I use the AAA ones in the remote control and they were well too.

As somebody else commented, a good charged is important too. I got this one on Amazon, although I got it when it was about £7.50. It is very good and charges each battery individually and a warning light lets you know when each battery is fully charged.
