I need a few rechargeable AA batteries for a new digital camera I'm getting from santa & there seems to be quite a selection to pick from... (Duracell, Panasonic, Eneloop etc) and it seems that even some of the higher mAh batteries don't last as long as lesser mAh ones. Anyone any experience or a link to a test review.....
What if the Hokey Pokey really is what it's all about !!!

Sanyo's Eneloop are very good - especially for digital cameras. Energiser are also good.
Make sure you also buy the appropriate charger otherwise you won't see the full benefit and they may not last as long.If my post hasn't helped you, then don't click the 'Thanks' button!0 -
Enelops are good also these Duracell I got some of these the other week from Amazon

Go for Ansmann MaxE 2500mAh - they're exactly like Eneloop except they're slightly cheaper and a German brand. I have loads of these and its just like having Alkaline batteries but ones which can be recharged.

How about these?
Same as them but 2850mAh and £4.125 for 4 or these 2700mAh £3.85 for 4 but you have to buy 4 packs minimum of either.
I need some AAA and was already planning on placing an order with rs because I wanted a digital thermometer and a few other parts. I will get free delivery on what I order so adding some batteries will work out okay because I tend to use AAA more than any others.
Although it's not very clear what a unit means, 1 battery or a pack of 4. So use some caution and call them first before ordering.0 -
These off Amazon have impressed me - http://www.amazon.co.uk/Ex-Pro%C2%AE-2900mAh-Ni-MH-Rechargable-Batteries/dp/B005NI5BJ4/ref=sr_1_54?s=electronics&ie=UTF8&qid=1322474238&sr=1-54
Had my first two sets for a couple of years and they have performed very well. Recently bought three more.
Lidl rechargable AAs can be surprisingly good for the price too.0 -

I've used Eneloop and they are very good and recently reduced on Amazon

Don't get too hung up on the mAh rating of rechargeable batteries, bigger is not necessarily better, the self dischrge rate has a big influence on real life useability. My most dissapointing purchase was a set of 2650mAh duracell rechargeables, bought at a time when 2100mAh was the norm, the duracells had a shocking (no pun intended) self discharge rate...0 -
7dayshop sell the Sanyo Eneloop slightly cheaper at £5.85 post free per set of 4, but I prefer the even cheaper Panasonic equivalent:

Until last year these were called Infinium, now Evolta, with slightly higher mAh rating. I've had some for maybe 4 years, and they still work well after at least 100 full charge cycles each.0 -
They're not quite the same though, as they don't look to be the low self-discharge type:

[EDIT]
But not a great deal because of the way that they list them, as I mentioned previously. The price turns out to be per battery and not for a pack of 4 which it could easily be interpreted as. Therefore the price is very high. Probably why they list them like that so they look more appealing.0 -
Go for low self discharge.
