All those uber-expensive houses are too clinical and have no personality. Give me a Victorian gentleman's lodge for a fraction of the price but infinitely more character any day of the week!

I should think the majority of houses in the country are a fraction of the price!

Honestly, I probably live in my ideal house already. It's an ex-council semi and it pretty much has everything, both within the house and the surrounding area that I wanted when I went house hunting. My experience of big expensive houses is that they can own you more than you own them, so I'm keeping well away from all that now.

Me too! I love our ex council house, you get so much for your money compared to other houses, a big garden and good sized rooms, gorgeous views (fields at the back) and the neighbours are lovely too. I should think we'll be in here for a good long time.

If you can afford the flat you can afford "people" to take the cushions off for you!

Did you see the service charge - twice the annual average salary...
Stop! Think. Read the small print. Trust nothing and assume that it is your responsibility. That way it rarely goes wrong.

    No way!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

That house is inside the cemetary!!!!!! That would scare me stiff! I saw a very nice house once years ago and from the front you couldn't tell there was a cemetary behind it, but once inside in the bedrooms and lounge you were looking over thousands of graves, some of which came up to the garden fence, and the garden was tiny!

I couldn't live in a house like that, whatever it was like!

I actually lived in a house built on top of a cemetery for 15 years. It was one of the many things not mentioned before we moved in.

As for the glass house in Highgate, I really like it because it's different, like a space ship that's just landed there. I have a suspicion it's cold though in winter. No amount of super powered central heating can stop convection.

The other houses really need some colour, both for decor and practical reasons. It's all a bit white and grey. You can predict the half life of carpets and couches in parties and I'm giving these endless swathes of white and cream a half life of 0.2 parties, as I suspect that just walking on them is bad enough without the inevitable beer/dip/cigarette ash incident.

Anyway, Chelsea must account for something like 92% of world cushion consumption. I'm surprised someone isn't building a cushion pipeline to China so they can be pumped in by the millions, fluffed and ready to scatter.
  • Maybe Chelsea bums aren't rounded enough and so need lots of cushions to sit on!:D

The only section of the housing market that is actually growing- living in a cardboard box. :(
