ostaragirl I am greeeeen with envy over your inheritance! How fabulous is that?
I agree with gibson 123, anything you can't use you should ebay, you'll make a mint. 'Stretch jersey in wild colours' sounds just my kind of thing! :rotfl:

A good third of it I can't honestly see me using as it seems to be some sort of stretch jersey in wild colours which I think may have been used for womens dress and suits?

DO NOT get rid of it! Styles and patterns in fabrics go in and out of fashion and then come back again. Do you have any idea how much genuine Pucci print fabrics are these days for instance? You don't even have to make a full garment out of it, it could be used for a groovy lining for something like the Liberty prints they used to line denim jackets with, or pockets, or cuffs, or, or.

Another third or so is usable with some really funky patterns and materials and feels like variations of cotton and some of what I seem to remember from childhood as seersucker?.

Cute. Very usable for all sorts of things.

There is also a lot of satiny smooth type stuff in all sorts of colours.

That's probably lining material. Very useful.

Also have set aside a large amount of what I think is wool cloth so I'm going to try some felting with that to see if it is and will try and shrink some bits too.
There are 2 suitcases which I have just opened that are full of remnants still folded with old paper label and the prices in shillings/pence and luckily from a few I've looked at the material is named.

Had a few finds of silks and some gorgeous cream stuff which I think would be for wedding outfits.

    Lucky, lucky, LUCKY!

I have also found 4 dresses from 60's(think flower power) a small cream shrug and a long hippy dress.

These could be worth serious money in one of those trendy vintage clothes shops. They're very popular here and the prices are eye-wateringly high.

I'm not sure how to put pics up here but I'll try and see if a link to webshots will work at some point over the weekend.

I'm itching to see some of them. I do hope you get it figured out. 40 boxes full. What absolute bliss!

Hi all, I wonder if anyone can advise me - I want to buy a walking foot for my machine which is a new Bush 24 stitch one. Can I buy a generic walking foot or do I need one specifically for this machine? Thanks in advance for any help.

Not sure will have to do some research on that one.
Have finished my second quilt, doing the edge binding was a real pain as I hadn't cut the piece quite big enough. Had to finish it by hand.
    the pictures are here.

My next project is to make some quilts for my sister's Maine Coon cats
they love to lie on them. Unfortunately she has 3 cats so will be quite a lot of work. Have found a super cat block on the Internet.
Back to school tomorrow so quilting will have to wait for a while.

Miffy thanks so much, that's brilliant! The price isn't too bad either. Those quilts are amazing, you really produce such professional results! I didn't get round to much on mine so still hand quilting it and I'm back to school today too - roll on half term!

Thank you Jps cloud Took the baby quilt to school today to give to the secretary as it is for her soon to be born grandchild. She loved it and said her daughter will love it. She kept showing it to everyone. Nice to have my efforts appreciated.
Have so much work to do as it's a new term so may not get round to much. As you say roll on half term:j Happy Sewing.

Hi there sewing people. have just been bribed into helping my sisters make covers for chairs when they move to their new house. they are going to buy Tullsta chairs from IKEA but don't like the covers. Never done anything like that before so does anyone know where I might find some patterns or advice. Hope you are all busy sewing.

I have an old tullsta that I bought for a tenner - it needs recovering too so I would also be really pleased if anyone has or knows of a pattern. I did some searching but could only find the actual covers, and this tutorial (link below) for a sofa slipcover, which I suppose we could adapt:

I have just made loose covers for my daughter and didnt have a poattern. I used old sheets to make a template by following the same method as in the link above. It was time consuming but really worth the effort they look brilliant. I covered it in drill cotton i bought off ebay for £35.00 for a 2 seater and 3 seater suite.
