Micro SIM from Vodafone, WITHOUT changing contract
Hi,
I work abroad a lot, and therefore usually swap out my Vodafone SIM card for a local one as that makes sense both financially (no roaming charges) and businesswise, with my work contacts having a local number to use.
I recently bought a dual SIM adaptor for my Motorola Defy, which requires micro-SIM cards. There was no problem getting one from my middle eastern provider, but it appears the Vodafone only do them for some of the more expensive contracts. Has anyone managed to obtain a Vodafone micro-SIM without having an iPhone or something similar?
I know it is possible to cut down SIM cards to fit the adaptor, I've tried that, and it doesn't work
. Don't know whether Vodafones SIMs are any different to other networks, but having to get a new SIM anyway now.

Just phone them up and ask, they should send you one.
I turned my Giffgaff SIM into a microSIM with a pair of scissors yesterday and it worked fine, are you sure you did it right?0 -
Or go into a Vodafone shop and hand them your old one and you'll walk away with a micro sim.0

SOME standard SIMs have a profile that prevents them being cut down and work as a micro-SIM, the phone itself is the final arbiter!0

Just ask vodafone to give you a microsim - the quickest way is simply to go into the store.0

Yep just go into a Vodafone store and ask. I did it no problem at all.0

Thanks for all the answers. Did as advised, and walked into my nearest Vodafone shop. Got a lot of tooth sucking from the manager, but he did give me a micro-sim.
Sadly, having had fitted both sims to the dual sim adaptor, I have now found that the adaptor isn't as robust as reviews suggested, and doesn't work reliably enough for me, so it'll be back to normals sims and 2 phones.
Oh well, worth a try.......0
