  • So many people becoming mortgage free! Congratulations to all of you, and I can't wait to join (in another 20 years.... :()

I've just overpaid by 700 for Oct - a dividend I'd forgotten about, coupled with some money I'd earmarked for something, but it appears I don't need it after all. Which means I've finally dropped below 250k, and am very happy! (There's still a very long way to go....)

  • A bit of an update from me.
So far have paid an extra £3685.50 #2 off my mortgage this year.
Am also saving money in an account that ends in December, but may have to break into that to cover the excess costs on my collapsed ceiling and the problem with the water pump...

    Hello everyone,

I think something has been awry as I haven't had the notification email until today and you've obviously been updating. Anyway, I'm here now and apologise for the delay.

Well done ajmoney, it doesn't matter how much, it's the satisfaction of knowing you've taken control. Do you want to amend your target for the year?

Closer ever closer pammyj, all updated for you. I have your total at £5,845, which spreadsheet is correct please?

You carry on jumping for joy TwinnyD, your great OP is recorded.

As I said above ajmoney, you now have control, brilliant!

Great to see you pollys and brilliant progress all updated. Good luck with the last bit!

Excellent news of you leaving your milestone behind rockabelle, all updated for you.

Great OPs across the year catslovelycats, all updated now on the spreadsheet. at the costs for collapsed ceiling and water pump.

From the googledoc, thanks for the update wilsons, all now recorded for you.

And a wonderful OP from BownyBoyHavant has been noted on the spreadsheet.

  • Well done financial Bliss.
I think I won't really feel the difference until 28th of this month when I get paid and no mortgage goes out of my account.

Amusingly Halifax sent me a letter this week to ask why I had cancelled my direct debit.
When I called them to point out was because I no longer had a mortgage to pay they said they had sent me a letter asking if I really wanted to close my mortgage account because it had been paid off six years early.

Did they think I was going to say...really? Oh my gosh how did that happen? Please reopen my account and I'll carry on paying for another 7 years? :undecided
